The Zum Heinrich – which is named after the first German king – is in the middle of the old part of Meißen. It serves food from bygone days. It offers nourishing soups, fine salads and vegetarian omelettes as well as substantial and country-style dishes which are very reasonably priced. These include Teufelsmahl (“devil’s meal”) - gypsy-style pork steak with potato wedges and salad (7.90 Euros) - Schwarzbiergulasch (“black beer goulash”) with dumplings and salad (6.40 Euros), homemade aspic (4.90 Euros), Prinzessinnenteller (the princess dish) - baked chicken breast with tomatoes, mozzarella and rice (8.60 Euros) - and the Römertopf (“Roman pot” - based on a recipe from ancient Rome) with fish, meat or vegetables for 29.00 Euros for 2 people! Every Sunday is cocktail day when all cocktails and long drinks cost only 3.00 Euros.
