Went for lunch prior to theatre on Saturday, great choice on menu, albeit a limited offering...choice of 6 starters, 6 main courses & 6 desserts, enough for anyone.

It is a perfect venue for a pre-theatre meal. The meal was very tasty and well presented. The printing on the menu, however, is very small. The waitress was very helpful in serving our sweets quickly in time for the theatre.

We came in a little early for our table at 8pm from a very cold and windy Edinburgh city. We were nicely greeted at the door & shown to our table. Unfortunately our table was quite draughty and uncomfortable, but we were seated at another table without fuss; although less draughty it was in the middle of the room where every member of staff passed on the way to each table or to pick up a menu. As we were dining as a couple out for a romantic meal I'm afraid it resulted in us feeling no ambience and more like a fast food establishment. The food, however was good, hot and nicely presented. Good value for money and service was polite and quick. Although we were served our meal quickly we were then left to our own devices. Only once did a waitress top up our wine glass and at no time were we asked how our meal was. I appreciate being left alone to eat without continual interruption is good, but we like to know we're being looked after and this was sadly lacking. The staff were polite but not attentive - too busy setting up for and looking after another table of 10, but this is no real excuse for the lack of attention as there were plenty of staff on. On the whole a rather disappointing experience with quite good food. Would recommend it, but only as a pre-theatre or lunch date with the girls. Not the romantic date we had in mind, sorry!

We were a group eating in the evening. We enjoyed good food with an impressive Italian wine list and attentive service.

Like to come here for pre-theatre meal. Nice friendly and efficient service. Menu could be a varied more regularly, but food is good and well presented. Decor is a little ordinary and chairs rather uncomfortable.
