Occupying a 17th-century building, Zizzi Winchester has the original period features at the heart of Winchester. Boasting an open kitchen and a birch tree centrepiece, Zizzi Italian restaurant serves a selection of classic Italian dishes.

The Zizzi menu showcases a passion for simple, delicious Italian food, served with an inventive twist. Hand-stretched, thin and crispy rustica pizzas are loaded with inspiring toppings, while salads and pasta dishes feature fresh, seasonal ingredients. Complementing the menu’s rich flavours, the Zizzi wine list brings together a selective stock of international bottles, and inventive cocktails are also on offer.

Specially designed for younger diners, the bambini menu at Zizzi restaurant is filled with tempting Italian dishes. For dessert, opt for a trusty Italian classic like super-smooth gelato or tiramisu, or an inventive seasonal special.

A 9-minute walk from Winchester Train Station, Zizzi is also within walking distance of Winchester Cathedral.

Busy and larger than expected restaurant. Sat near the open kitchen area. Enjoyed the food. Only disappointment was waited 45 minutes for the starter which I think is excessive. Otherwise rest of meal was served without undue delay.

Having been going regularly to Zizzi in Winchester since if first opened we were shocked and disappointed in its decline when we visited last week. The atmosphere and staff seemed different. A prawn and zuccini starter had a single prawn - the calzone was more like a pasty and the pasta arrived barely warm. To be fair we were offered a free desert but would have preferred the meal to be of the high standard we had come to expect. To add further to our discontent the coffee didn't event taste of coffee. Will will not be going back for a while.

Food in general always seems to be ungenerous these days - perhaps a couple of pepperoni slices short on a pizza, chillis very sparse on a rustics pizza and you get charged 45p when you ask for a bit more, spaghetti carbonara brought in a cold bowl and the sauce was thin and runny so quickly turned cold. Children's starter is almost a waste of time - a tiny lump of cold pizza bread and thinly sliced carrot/cucumber which is always limp. Used to be warm pizza bread and so much better! Waiting staff are usually very good though.
