The staff were attentive but made you feel safe in this current climates. They seem cheerful to as if they real loved being there. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and was given a glass of bubbly to start our celebrations which was a lovely surprise. I started with garlic king prawns which were very tasty. Followed by ravioli the portions were perfect. I was looking forward to a desert but the restaurant had been so popular the choices were limited to cheese cake tiramisu or ice cream so I gave it a miss . And enjoyed our bottle of merlo.

I often eat at Zizzi Canterbury and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately this time it was not so great. Our meals were barely warm - the plates could not have been warmed they were quite cold. Told the waitress who took our meals away. After a while she returned with our meals and they were hot - I think the food had been reheated. My daughter had her favourite pasta dish which comes in a sauce - however maybe because it had been reheated the sauce had separated and was oily. I was very disappointed with my own meal the Spiedini Manzo - it is described as slow cooked beef which you expect to be delicious juicy and tender however the reality was that it was tough and dry and not pleasant. The french fries were no better then I would expect to be served in McDonalds and no indication that they had seen any rosemary it also came with a garnish of a few uninspired lettuce leaves drenched in some sort of oily salad dressing and the Chianti and rosemary sauce was nothing more then a dip which was also oily. Although the waitress of course apologised - what else could she do - we were not offered any gesture such as complimentary desserts or even coffee which is the least we could have expected. Then when we used the toilets we both got caught in the one that has a dodgy lock! It took a couple of minutes of jiggling and mild panic that we were locked in, until it suddenly released itself! If we had not been late for a train, I would have bought the dodgy toilet to the attention of the staff and I would have also asked for a discount for the poor meals. Fortunately this was just a convenient place to go for a quick meal, had it been for a special occasion it would have been a very disappointing evening. I will be putting this down as a one off and will visit again as I have had many years of enjoyable meals here.

Never disappointed at Zizzi's, although I am sad to see the Rainbow salad has been taken off the menu

Poor. Our party of 7 were seated near the door despite there being plenty of space further into the restaurant; a small child on another table constantly ran around and opened the door letting in cold air- neither the parents nor staff took any action to deal with the child; as we were near the bar it was very noisy as staff constantly banged the coffee machine or clanked bottles ; the waitress laughed at my husband when he asked for his meal to be served on a plate and not a board ; I thought my pasta was poor and oversalted; restaurant had run out of our first choice of red wine. Only good thing was that there was a reasonable choice of vegan meals for the two vegans in our party which was the main reason we had chosen that restaurant .

Unfortunately the overall dining experience was not good. I felt sorry for the waitress. She was brand new and was left by herself. She only got help when things started to go wrong with other diners and it was quite a busy evening. There was a big gap - at least 38 minutes between the starter plates being collected and the mains coming out. It was a table for 5 and when the mains did come out my main was forgotten so had to be cooked later. My wifes main was luke warm so sent it back for re heating and when it came back - after being zapped in a microwave - was overcooked and the prawns were like bullets. We have dined in Zizzis in our home town on quite a few occasions and never had a bad experience.
