In 1927 the old armoury (Zeughaus) on the Paradeplatz was converted into a beer restaurant. The columns and wooden beams of the ceiling were protected during the conversion, and even the original construction materials were used so that the structural character of the former armoury remained exactly as it was.
Since 2002 Tony Hammer has been running his 240 seat restaurant with 70 employees in the same way as his predecessors did.
'I endeavour', says Tony Hammer, 'to offer my customers good home cooking that is consistently of good quality, good value for money and a friendly service'.
The large tables contribute to creating a sociable atmosphere and a special culinary experience, whereby conversations are often struck up between strangers. In the Zeughauskeller restaurant, groups of regulars meet from all walks of life and from all over the world.
