We had a very reasonably priced tasting menu - very varied selection of an interesting and well prepared menu with very good wines

Nice meal but disappointed and surprised by the lack of a vegetarian/vegan option for the roast.

We had Sunday roast for lunch, a truly great institution loaded with expectations. The food was tasty and I cannot complain in general however the portion size felt light, insufficient vegetables, insufficient gravy (jus) and disappointing roast potatoes I felt the plate was poorly dressed and visually looked quite depleted when we were served, I would highly recommend greater consideration be given to presentation. 3.5 out of 5 stars

To start off with we were given the wrong menu. We then had to wait 20 mins for the correct menu followed by another 20 mins until our order was taken (restaurant had a total of about 10 guests dining). Our food order was taken and our drinks order was then taken 10mins after that...I have never been to a restaurant where this happens. I enquired about a couple of Pinot's on wine and was then recommended a completely different wine! Terrible sommelier! My mother was in town and as part of Design Week I thought I would treat her to a nice meal. Sadly this didn't happen. Once the bread arrived I asked for some oil and balsamic as a substitute to the dairy butter - a pretty "normal' request I thought? But alas, to my absolute horror I was presented with a saucer of cider vinegar that was dumped down on the table in-front of me. My mother gasped and swiftly moved the unappealing vinegar away from me. At this point I started crying because I was really looking forward to a nice meal with my partner and mother but instead was met with a very rude waiter and terrible service. I would not take loved ones to this empty, outdated, unfriendly and poorly managed restaurant.

The staff seemed very uninterested and the food very mixed with some dishes excellent and others just ok. The customer service needs significant improvement as even though the place was empty, we were not attended to.

We had the tasting menu which was superb. The best meal I have had in many a long year of restaurant dining. Diverse flavours and textures- every one delicious and carefully thought through and prepared. Many small and slightly larger courses- I think eight including cheese. It is £34 plus a bit extra for the cheese- very good value. I am going back soon. The service is also good- informative, friendly people. (I generally do not write reviews but this meal was exceptional).
