Great service and food

We had the set menu which I felt was better value for money. A little disappointed with the table set up as I felt I was part of the conversation of the table for two next to me as they were so close. Very attentive service and friendly staff. Restaurant décor beginning to look tired

Worst restaurant experience ever. Having visited the Y & A in the past, I was looking very much forward to some really exciting new year meal and kept myself hungry all day. First the choices were very limited and costly. Secondly my Sunday roast was the worst thing I have ever forced down my gut. The sirloin was difficult to chew with lots of tendon, that I had to swallow the cuts whole, the gravy was incredibly salty and bitter (burnt) and I had to help swallow my food by drinking coke. It was so bad that my son and I had to abandon our plates and because my husband did not want to see the food go waste, he eat some of the meat. I was so nauseous I could not have desert. To make matters worst, there was added service charge which I asked to be taken off the bill, however I gave the lovely waitress a generous tip. For the next 4 hours I felt nauseous with a bad taste in my mouth and at the back of my throat. Really really disappointed. My husband's fish meal was equally bad that he had to ask for alternative vegetables to go with it. I made my feelings very clear to the waitress who promised to relay this to the chef. I admire you Chef Ramsay but I will never be going back to Y & A. I have a photograph of the food if you would like me to send to you. Our new year dinner and expectations were completely ruined. It was not worth the money spent at all. Finally, the male loo was in a mess

The Albany & York in Camden, London was a really nice and comfortable setting with a relaxing atmosphere. I was entertaining a couple of friends from USA who had not experienced Afternoon Tea before. First of all the weather was terrible and pouring with rain, so we arrived an hour early ahead of our scheduled booking. This was no problem and we ordered a round of drinks as we waited for the correct time for serving afternoon tea. We were really pleased that the waiter gave us the option of including our drinks as part of the afternoon tea which was commendable although we all ordered extra pots of tea. One of my American friends really wanted to try Calvados from the drinks menu, but it was not available so that wasn't good, so he tried Pimms instead. When the afternoon tea was served it was ok but not as good as say The Reubens where the sandwiches are bite size with the crusts removed and butter is used for spread. I was shocked that a Gordon Ramsay establishment which is supposed to be high class quality was using margarine as base spread for sandwiches! However, the selection was good and one of our friends was vegetarian and was asked before we ordered so a goos selection was available for them. The teas were acceptable but again I was shocked that a supposedly classy Gordon Ramsay restaurant was serving pots of tea using tea bags and not loose tea! The tradition of afternoon tea needs to be revisited here in my opinion! Again, the best venue I have experience afternoon tea in London is at The Reubens where several different types of tea are offered, and all are loose tea options. The selection of teas at the York & Albany was fairly limited and was not impressed with tea bags being used. Also, I believe we had qualified for bottomless tea when I booked online, but this was not mentioned by the waiting staff at any time, and after I had finished my pot of tea I was not approached for a refill. That was disappointing. Overall, I'd say the experience was 5/10

Such a shame, the deal we booked was not the same when we arrived. The price was more and the prosecco wasn't included. What's more I had to ask for the menu. The service was very slow and they didn't check on us once to check if everything was OK. The food took ages even though we were one of the last tables in the restaurant. It also seemed like everyone was clearing up around us and ignoring us. When I did ask about the food (about 40 minutes later) I was told it was on it's way in an acerbic manner. We arrived at 20.50 we finally ate at 22.05. We originally loved the place and thought of returning but that will not be the case. The food was nothing special either.

I booked for the gingerbread afternoon tea. On arrival, we were told this afternoon tea stopped few weeks ago but it is still advertised on their website and on other websites as well. Also, they had a separate room that looked decorated in a Christmassy way. So we took the normal afternoon tea. It is not very expensive but we were disappointed. The scones arrived burnt and we had to ask for new ones. I found the carrot cake a bit tasteless. The rest was ok. However for a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, I was expecting better food. Also, for a Gordon Ramay restaurant, the doors outside need serious repainting and I was wondering if some of the paint from the ceiling was not going to fall on me
