Restaurant description

Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany presents contemporary British cuisine in an urban setting in Camden. The open bar creates a perfect meeting place, and the sweeping open kitchen downstairs also gives diners direct views of the pass and the chefs in action.

The modern yet wholesome menu at York & Albany makes use of the finest seasonal ingredients. Bold, earthy flavours include port-braised ox cheek with roasted cauliflower, or Cornish cod with truffle gnocchi and spinach, while classic desserts include sticky treacle-steamed pudding with rice pudding foam.

A lengthy drinks list in the restaurant and bar features a plethora of world wines and a mix of fun cocktail categories. Younger diners can feast for free on a specially designed children’s menu – Tilly’s Treats - and the bar food menu offers more casual dining.

Featuring edgy interior design from Russell Sage, York & Albany in London sits 5 minutes’ walk from Camden Town Tube Station and a short walk from Regent’s Park.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

The service was very poor, had to change tables 3 times. Has asked for a window seat but no one got back to us we sat a table that was wobbling And unstable, eventually we where sat by the window. We order our food, which by and large was ok. the hock Turin was not very nice(but i know that a choice we made). The sweet was very disappointing we both had the chesses cake , which was soft and the biscuit base was so hard we could not cut it. In fact it flew of the plate and landed on my shirt. (Not best pleased). We order wine was not shown the label, was not until we decided to check that we realised it was the wrong wine. No one pourd our wine for us and yet all the tables around us had theirs pour for them. Maybe it’s because we had a deal and there for did not merit a full service? It was my partners birthday the whole dinning experience left us both felling very disappointed. The manager offered us a cocktail in a way of saying sorry, we never told him the whole story as we were in a room full of people and felt uncomfortable discussing our issues . I have a feeling this will fall on deaf ears as we book a deal and felt like we were not welcomed there. Won’t be going back.

Good food and service but was surprised to find that the set menu price was exactly the same as the opentable promotion price (minus the free drink which probably only cost £1) so was left wondering why we bothered using opentable as we had to accept a very early booking

Well worth a visit, the only down side is for a Ramsey property, you could easily miss ut due to bad signage and no outside lighting etc. When we arrived you could of mistaken it for being closed.

Had a lovely time with only some minor issues. Service was quite slow at the start, the waitress got confused with what wine we wanted and bought us a £9 more expensive bottle (we didn't bring this to her attention and politely paid) and the cobbler needed more sugar. Regardless of these things still a lovely eve and starter and main were lovely.

Our meals were excellent and the service was outstanding. Our waitress Arianna was the definition of amazing customer service. Would highly recommend the York & Albany and we'll definitely be going back!

Warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. Service was good, not intrusive which is always a plus. To start the Chicken & Shitake Terrine was lovely although my personal preference would have been to have a thinner slice, quite a lot of meat for a starter and wanted to save room for the rest of the menu! My other-half had the roasted carrot salad and polished off every morsel! We ordered an additional starter of Chilli & Lime Squid, this was nice although the tentacle pieces were a little over cooked. I highly recommend the Duck Leg, truly delicious dish, cabbage cooked perfectly with some crunch and smooth buttery mash all complimented well. The Sea Trout also highly recommended, lovely balance of flavours. Dessert was luscious, plum & apple cobbler was yummy, I would have preferred ice-cream to clotted cream but was good nonetheless. The pecan pie with mandarin ice-cream was amazing, the zing of the ice-cream worked perfectly with the pecan pie, a definite must to order again on another visit. All-in-all, a lovely dining experience with much more on the menu I want to try the next time we visit!!

The food was delicious and the service was excellent - attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant itself is very ambient lit mostly by candlelight at the tables ( although made reading menus a tad difficult). All in all great evening.
