Restaurant description

Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany presents contemporary British cuisine in an urban setting in Camden. The open bar creates a perfect meeting place, and the sweeping open kitchen downstairs also gives diners direct views of the pass and the chefs in action.

The modern yet wholesome menu at York & Albany makes use of the finest seasonal ingredients. Bold, earthy flavours include port-braised ox cheek with roasted cauliflower, or Cornish cod with truffle gnocchi and spinach, while classic desserts include sticky treacle-steamed pudding with rice pudding foam.

A lengthy drinks list in the restaurant and bar features a plethora of world wines and a mix of fun cocktail categories. Younger diners can feast for free on a specially designed children’s menu – Tilly’s Treats - and the bar food menu offers more casual dining.

Featuring edgy interior design from Russell Sage, York & Albany in London sits 5 minutes’ walk from Camden Town Tube Station and a short walk from Regent’s Park.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

The restaurant decor is lovely and overall the food quality was very good. However, they are very understaffed and service was "strange" - both over friendly but also not very good at the same time. There was one waiter serving so many tables it was almost comical. Then we noticed our very tiny serving of "burrata", it was like a burrata drizzle, not even enough to scoop onto a fork. Along with the very small serving of a glass of wine, a GBP30 charge for a birthday cake that I asked for not knowing that they would serve such a huge cake after taking the desert order...we felt like we were at the mercy of Gordon Ramsay's accountant and it was quite obvious in all these small things that mean I wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all.

Was a lovely restaurant, perhaps in need of a little repaint but nothing that bothered me. The waiters were fantastic recommending wine and food. Couldn't fault the food every piece was finished.

We had an excellent lunch - food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our varying tastes. Love the informal (open all day) atmosphere especially at lunch times.

We went for an afternoon tea. The staff is kind. We did can choose our seats and it was cosy. Sandwichs, desserts and scones are awsome. We were filled after that. Thanks a lot for the service.

Very good food, fairly priced house wine and the set menus are great value. Two small complaints - the coffee was brought before the dessert, and a group sitting across the room were very noisy at times and I think the staff could have had a quiet word with them.

Pretty good overall. Service was a bit slow initially, and we had to ask for things like sugar and table water top ups. The afternoon tea was good. Very nice setting and very relaxed which was perfect for us. When we went downstairs to the toilets there was a member of staff slumped on the table (sleeping I think) which didn't give a good impression.

Our reservation was made through Book a Table . The promotional offer was a 3 course meal including prosecco. When we arrived there was the option of a 2 course meal , however this didn't include prosecco which wasn't made clear when making the booking. On arrival the staff were friendly but disappointingly we were ushered to a table in the Bar and not the resturant area . Again this wasn't made clear at the time of booking . The menu was limited but offered an adequate selection, the Salmon was tasty and although the side order ( additional charge) of mash potatoe arrived cold it was replaced quickly and accompanied with a complimentary salad. Overall a good evening however next time I would prefer to eat in the Resturant.
