Believed to be the second oldest pub in the country, Ye Olde Six Bells dates all the way back to the 9th century and offers quality British cuisine from an extensive menu. The charming, shingle-roof country inn has been sympathetically restored, with some of its original features still intact, while the conservatory dining room offers stunning views of the Surrey countryside.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Ye Olde Six Bells menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while the ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

Neighbouring the grassy banks of the winding River Mole, Ye Olde Six Bells in Horley is just a 4-minute drive to Gatwick Airport.

We had a very nice meal last Monday (Bank Holiday). The restaurant was fairly quiet and we had a nice table. Things seem to have improved, as we have had two good meals here recently. Prior to that we had a poor experience one Sunday, and I gave them a bad review.

We arrived for our time, as it was a beautiful day we asked to see if we could move outside. This was no problem. The food and service that we received was outstanding. We had a beautiful meal in a wonderful setting.

The food very nice. This is the second visit this year. We came in May for a birthday celebration. One point i would like to make is that the Ladies toilets one of the toilet seats was held together with duck tape. Our visit was on 10th August and the toilet seat was still the same i am sure they can afford a new seat? You can always tell a place by the state of the toilets and i have to say that as it had not been changed from May does let it down!

I made a table reservation at 13.00 Hrs to be at the Six Bells at 14.30 for lunch- I was not expecting that the booking would be confirmed as normally the Six Bells is very busy on a Sunday, however Sunday the 6th August was rather quiet. I order the Roast Pork with roast Potatoes, carrots, cabbage and parsnips, followed by Apple pie with custard and ice cream. The food was great, the service very attentive. I have no complaints

Very nice old gastropub near Gatwick airport within easy walking distance of many B & B's in Horley. Pleasant rural setting, good food, draught beer and wine, friendly staff, good service and nice ambience. A great choice if you are staying overnight near the airport.

Staff were very busy last night, but still the food was excellent. Cod, steaks and pies are really lovely.
