I went with a group of friends to visit St Paul’s Cathedral. This seemed ideal to finish off our visit. Located in a quite area off from the main cafe and souvenir shop which is lovely after bustling through the sightseeing groups. Our table was ready and we were greeted politely and offered drinks. The array of sandwiches per person was adequate and was of good choice. There were usual selection of teas to accompany our afternoon tea. There were two scones per person one plain and one fruit. Both were warm, light with a crisp crust accompanied by a large scoop of cream and Tiptree jam. My vegetarian option for cake was a chocolate bomb with hot caramel filled with honeycomb and chocolate brownie and a Eton mess. Both were absolutely delicious and thoroughly devoured! The non vegetarian option was a cheesecake with raspberry gelatine topping, which was not to the liking of all three of my friends.
Overall, a wonderful experience, good courteous service and good afternoon tea selection.
I would definitely recommend The Crypt. -

The overall experience was fine, we did enjoy it but no more than if it had been in a tea shop anywhere. So much scope for the fact you are having tea in the Crypt at St Paul's is overlooked and they have certainly missed a trick. The chocolate dome, which was the only slight nod to the surroundings and only realised subsequently, was the most delicious item - not to be missed!
Sadly the waitress was miserable and unenthusiastic, we arrived a little early and she really looked like she was annoyed - seeing as only two tables were occupied it wasn't as though we were pushing other diners out. We were also seated on a table with a rodent bait trap right next to it.... Of course we know that vermin get everywhere and we'd rather they addressed the problem but one really does not want to be reminded of the problem whilst eating! -
