Woods has been delighting the diners of Cardiff since 1993 when it first opened in Talbot Green. Now sited in the Pilotage Building, the restaurant has become one of the city's most popular spots with a chic yet welcoming ambience and a modern European menu that always seems to entice people back for repeat visits. Dishes range from Pan Seared Squid Putanesca to Nori-Rolled Ballotine of Poached Salmon with keta eggs and cucumber dressing to start, followed by mains of Roasted Lamb Rump with Provencal vegetables, lamb jus and tapenade. Demonstrating an approach that is cosmopolitan and straightforward, these are well-conceived dishes that everyone can enjoy, with local produce very much in use. With regular live music on offer and a pre-theatre menu, there's always a good reason to make that next booking.

Lunch for two. Good service, great food. Only one of us ordered a starter, but they brought an extra complementary one which went down well. Totally recommended.

The menu at woods is always very interesting and tasty. I had a lovely cucumber cocktail, and three courses of wonderful food.
