Food was nice and the atmosphere relaxed. Would have given 5* if the manager could remember exact drink orders and didn't spend so much time looking at his mobile. Didn't complain as it wasn't a huge issue and wanted to continue with a nice time.

I have been a regular at Wolfe's since the 1980s and have probably either had drinks, lunch or dinner there hundreds of time. It's central London location and relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal meeting place or somewhere useful to hold business meetings. Over the years the quality has gone and and down with (I presume) different owners and staff. The food has always been, at best, average, but that's not why it was a preferred location. However, on my most recent visit with colleagues from America, the decor had changed, I presume, to attract a more "youthful" visitor -- all the beloved window tables had been replaced by a "relaxed drinking area". The menu has been cut right back for choice (and apparently printed in 8-point so you now need glasses to read it), the bar staff didn't seem to know what beers they had, the food was pretty terrible (even the usually reliable burger that I had, although there is now only one choice on the menu) and, to top it off, my loyalty discount card was rejected because they are apparently bringing in a "new system". So much for supporting them for four decades! I'm not sure how often I'll be going back now . . .

Booked the three course + Prosecco deal for a pre theatre lunch. Overall we were very pleased. Good sized portions and very well cooked and presented. Husband was a little miffed to find bones in his mackerel fillet starter but his steak was cooked to perfection and there was a very generous serving of strawberries for dessert. I started with goats cheese, followed with lamb kleftiko and then pear and ginger salted caramel pudding which were all delicious. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant looks great. it all went down hill after first impressions! it was so cold, we kept our scarves wrapped round us, we did ask them to turn the ac off as thats what it felt like but they just said it was off and it was a draft they couldn't do anything about. we weren't the only patrons complaining tho. Then they only brought 3 out 4 meals to the table, one had been forgotten so she had to wait for hers. one burger came with bacon which was stone cold, my fillet steak was incredibly chewy, when i mentioned this i was told its because I'd ordered it rare, well i always order my steaks rare but I've never had to spit the first mouthful into my napkin so as to get rid of it! i couldn't eat it so i told them i wouldn"t pay for it and it was taken off bill. Service was slap dash, only ordered one drink as no one came to our table again. They even had the cheek to add 12.5% service, which we didn't give! Will not be returning and do not recommend.

The food is solid, and quite good value, the cocktails and wine are good, but the service is simply below par. In a location like that it's a shame not to see more effort being made to create a pleasant dining experience.
