Excellent food, service and setting. Wine by the glass was a bit expensive.

Wild Garlic have earned themselves 2 AA Rosettes and a place in the Michelin Guide with their blend of fresh local ingredients, and exciting fusions of British and European flavours. Chic furnishings and garlic pattern wallpaper lend the restaurant a unique and intimate feel.

Chef Matthew Beardshall worked with Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing before opening The Wild Garlic: a modern, stylish restaurant with a wholesome, locally sourced menu. The Wild Garlic Nailsworth tasting menu is a journey through exciting flavours, featuring chicken and ginger broth, confit sea trout with piccalilli and bourbon blackberry and apple.

For a lighter bite, guests can also feast on the tapas menu, a selection of small meat, fish, cheese and salad dishes. All of the food can be washed down with something from the extensive wine and cocktail list.

Wild Garlic is in the pretty town of Nailsworth, a 10-minute drive from Stroud Train Station and town centre.

Service was a little robotic and distant. Food over cooked and limited in imagination.

This was our first visit to The Wild Garlic and it will be the first of many as we were so impressed by the food, the staff and the ambience of the restaurant. One of the best meals I have had in a while and the best I’ve ever had in Nailsworth.

A great meal, well cooked and good service. The only disappointment was the menu wasn't as shown outside and I had planned what I was going to have.

We really enjoyed the meal (lunch in the Bistro): soup&bhaji, moules frites/barbary duck, affogato. Service excellent. Such a shame we were the only customers! GO TO THE WILD GARLIC!

Service was good and friendly, perhaps slightly slow. We had three courses, all of which were well presented and delicious. The restaurant itself was modern and comfortable. Overall, it would have been a excellent evening out apart from the mobile phones. Out of seventeen other diners, we saw five using their phones during the meal and twice we heard phones ringing. Worse, the loud-voiced woman at the next table spent most of her meal reading out lists of other restaurants, places to eat, the arrangements for the fireworks at Longleat and places to buy preparations containing turmeric. At a fine dining restaurant, we would expect the use of mobile phones to be discouraged.
