With roaring fires, low-level sofas and heated al fresco seating out front, the White Horse Hotel Haslemere is a wonderfully comfortable gastropub in any weather. A great selection of British dishes are served, as well as craft beers from around the globe.
Gourmet British pub classics are served on the White Horse Hotel menu, such as pork, leek and Welsh rarebit sausages with spring onion mash and red wine jus, as well as slow-cooked British short rib with bone marrow sauce. There are a range of burgers, including chicken and avocado, and the vegetarian quinoa and mushroom, as well as light bites like the fish finger bap and homemade Devon crab cakes.
Puddings at the White Horse in Haslemere include sticky toffee pudding with vanilla bean ice cream, and salted caramel profiteroles with salted caramel ice cream. There are carefully selected craft beers on tap, a full wine list, and classic cocktails.
Always laid back, and with popular Sunday roasts and quiz nights too, the White Horse restaurant is 11 minutes' walk from Haslemere Rail Station.

We had the mushroom start and it was excellent and couldn't fault the main meal fish and chips and sausages with spring onion mash. The atmosphere in the pub was very welcoming and cosy.

Booking online worked a charm. Disappointed that they had managed to sell out of fish and chips on a Friday at 7.30pm. Could also have done without the withering look and rude reply when asking if it was possible to make the squid starter into a main. (Other fish options being limited.) A place may charge London prices but there's no need for London service! I dread to think what they do to customers who are actually rude - pull out a pistol and shoot them, perhaps.

Disappointing. I have eaten well here before and thought it would be a good venue to meet friends for dinner. But some meals on menu were not available that evening (even a vegetarian risotto!) so little choice, and my potatoes were badly overcooked. Chef's night off?
