Next to Nungate bridge, said to be the oldest remaining in Scotland, The Waterside occupies a former weir house in the market town of Haddington. Pass through the charming ground floor bar to the friendly restaurant upstairs, which has a warm, neighbourhood feel, or go below for the more informal bistro. The menu is cluttered with robust Scottish classics, including local game when in season, and there is a pleasant al fresco dining terrace facing the parish church of St. Mary's Church.
