Good service. Cute place located quite discreetly in a square off the main road in king's cross, certainly recommend this to others

VOC Restaurant and Bar is tucked under an archway in King’s Cross. Unique cocktails, an eclectic menu, and a homely, speakeasy-style feel have made VOC a popular city-centre haven since launching in 2009.
The VOC menu transports diners to different regions of the world, with a focus on adventure and discovery. Expect small sharing plates inspired by the spice routes and an emphasis on sharing and communal dining.
The bar at VOC specialises in bespoke cocktails based on centuries-old recipes, brought to life with modern mixology techniques. The bar itself is as unique as the drinks list, with cocktail barrels suspended from the ceiling, huge church candles and exposed brickwork.
Tucked away behind King’s Cross Station, VOC Bar London has an enviable location which puts the whole of the city within easy reach.

Ordered a Ribeye steak and was unchewable. Full of gristle and fat. I complained to the waitress when she asked how my meal was. She apologised said she would inform the chef but did not remove it from the overall bill! The chips were nice! Also if you’re not from this area it is very difficult to locate the restaurant down a side alley.

Good service, good cocktails but very average food. Felt a bit like a downmarket TGI Friday....

Great location, very close to King's Cross Station. There were a few people at the bar but only one other table in the restaurant was being used. Unusual to be somewhere so quiet on a Saturday night in London, and while it meant the service was great, the atmosphere was really lacking. The food sounded really interesting as described on the menu and we were looking forward to eating the various small plates but most of it was fairly disappointing.

I wasn’t going to bother complaining but seeing as this has popped up in my inbox, here goes: firstly there was a yellow box heater emitting the most horrible smell - electrical burning. In the end we had to ask the manager to turn it off as it was really pungent. The dining experience was really bizarre as 75% of our dishes were lovely but the ‘Patatas Bravas’ consisted of peeled over cooked new potatoes, chopped peppers and, worst of all, cold halved cherry tomatoes! No sauce or crispy potatoes. As I’m sure you must know that is not patatas bravas. I did mention to the (very nice) waitress on the night. Also while one of our desserts was lovely - a choc tart - the Eton Mess was again absolutely awful - broken up supermarket meringue nest with what I would swear was squirty cream from a can. Just horrible. We joked that there was a good chef and a terrible one in the kitchen as the contrast between the good and awful dishes was marked. Finally, it was absolutely FREEZING on the way to and in the loos. I’m sorry for the negative review but I think you should know. Thanks.
