Wholesome and satisfying steaks cooked to perfection and nicely presented. The pleasant hustle-bustle atmosphere and decor was very much akin to an up-market American diner. Not ideal for a romantic tete-et-tete dinner with overly loud background music echoing off the walls, but for those who enjoy rolling up their sleeves for a good 'ol tuck-in the Victory is quite superb. The only annoyance came with the presentation of the bill. A service charge should not automatically be included. The cashier had absolutely no idea of the quality of service we received, yet loaded the bill regardless under corporate instructions. Surely, DeVere does not have to subsidise staff wages by such shameless practices. The customer decides the level of tip left as a thank you ... not the boss of DeVere. Our service was excellent and I would have happily paid a few pounds more if I'd known the cash wasn't simply going into corporate coffers.
