With a stunning central cocktail bar, hand-carved wooden furniture and traditional Indian artwork throughout, Veer Dhara One is a unique and exciting setting for authentic Indian dishes.
Dishes on the Veer Dhara One menu feature bold flavours, rich in tradition. Popular favourites include duck marinated in Indian rum, then cooked in a tandoor and served with mint sauce, as well as lobster rubbed with lime and turmeric, cooked with tomatoes and buttered onions, served on naan bread. There are curries with spice levels to suit all, and a huge range of vegetarian delicacies.
The cocktail bar at Veer Dhara One St Albans sits in the centre of the restaurant, showcasing signature specials like the Cappuccino Delight. There is also a selection of single malts and other premium spirits, as well as a good choice of international wines.
Mixing Indian gourmet tradition with contemporary style, Veer Dhara One is a 12-minute walk from St Albans City Rail Station.

Food was excellent and it was wise to book a table as restaurant was packed by 8:30. Only downside is that the service is terribly, terribly slow.

The meal was to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary. Once again, Veer Dhara did not disappoint. Their cuisine is excellent, the staff are welcoming and friendly, and they were holding a special Diwali celebration buffet on this evening. They called me beforehand to ensure I was happy with this departure from their normal menu (excellent customer service) and the inclusion of some dancers providing a small floor show was a real treat. The menu, although a set one, was beautifully cooked and well up to their normal standard, and it saved me having to make what is always a difficult choice from their a la carte menu!

The food was excellent (all of it) thank you. We found it a bit noisy when lots of people arrived and the restaurant was full, but not much you can do about that.

We asked for a quiet table for two, by a window IF possible. Unfortunately we were seated next to a party of about 14 people including half a dozen kids under five celebrating a 70th birthday. It ruined it for us. Couldn't hear ourselves think. We left having barely touched our main course. We took the food home with us. A real shame. Will will go again though as we have been before with other couples as the food, service, restaurant itself and the general atmosphere is excellent.

My birthday celebrations fell on a Monday evening and I and my family were pleased to see there were a number of others in the restaurant to give it some atmosphere. The staff were absolutely excellent. They were welcoming and attentive throughout the evening. The food was absolutely excellent - to the extent that we will almost certainly switch to the Veer Dhama One for our curry nights out and our take-aways in future. We ordered a wide range of dishes for starters and main courses and we all enjoyed all of them. There was a freshness about the cooking. It was pleasing to see one wasn't confined to drinking Cobra Beer - I had a splendid bottle of London Pride. My companions had nice bottle of white wine. We couldn't eat a dessert. Indeed, our 'eyes were bigger than our bellies' and (extremely unusual for us) we requested if we could take the remainder home as a 'doggie bag'. Quick as you like, it was boxed up and ready to go. The complimentary drinks for us all to celebrate my birthday put a wonderful full stop to a lovely evening. Thank you to those at front of house and in the kitchen for a splendid night out.
