Vanilla Black is situated in the East End of London and offers a new spin on vegetarian cuisine. The restaurant is spacious and inspired by the art-deco era, offering a chic backdrop for your meal. Any perceptions of stodgy, lentil-filled meals are about to be smashed; instead, prepare for stunningly presented dishes such as candy stripe beetroot salad, cabbage and cheddar with beans, port and raisins and a mushroom torte. Desserts are equally impressive, including almond marzipan cake and dark chocolate pudding. Three courses will cost an average of £40 per person and will silence even the most committed carnivore.

We dined at lunchtime The food was lovely, well presented, good service but the portions could be larger. The flavours were superb and it is a very interesting menu. Big disappointment was the drinks- only bottled juices, no fresh juices- lunchtime workers and, anyway, many people do not want to drink.the dining room is just lovely. overall a lovely experience and I will eat there again. p.s. it is not in the East End- it is in Holborn
