Restaurant description

An edgy urban restaurant from one of the world’s most famous chefs, Gordon Ramsay Group’s Union Street Café in Southwark, London, showcases refreshingly simple Italian cuisine. In this converted warehouse-style space, the main attraction is incredible Italian cuisine served from a theatre-style open kitchen.

Sourcing from artisan Italian producers as well as those closer to home, head chef Davide Degiovanni presents a selection of time-honoured recipes, served with a modern twist. Wholesome recipes from the daily-changing Union Street Café menu might include chicken breast with spinach and pecorino mousse, or smoked aubergine and burrata risotto. Only the freshest ingredients are used.

At the restaurant’s very own Olive Grove, bar bartenders muddle creative and classic cocktail mixes that take inspiration from the flavours of the Mediterranean and the humble olive.

Styled to resemble a cool, New York-style loft space, Union Street in London is a 3-minute walk from Southwark Tube Station and close to the Southbank, Shakespeare’s Globe, Borough Market, and Tate Modern.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

This was our first time ever eating at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and it certainly lived up to our high expectations. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a member of staff who was very polite and offered to take our coats and sat us down at our table. We were told about the menu, ordered drinks, ordered our food and got ourselves comfortable. It wasn’t too busy but there was a lovely atmosphere and nice decor. The waiter brought out an aperitif which was a surprise and very nice! We ordered Italian eggs for starters (best poached egg I’ve ever had!) corn fed chicken and sea bream for mains and paradise cake and the meringue for desserts. We were then served a house cocktail, followed by a kitchen tour which was the perfect way to roundoff the experience. Every course was spot on. It was a culinary experience not just going for a nice meal. Whilst we were in London we also stayed and ate at Gordon’s hotel York & Albany and street pizza! We will definitely be going back and I can’t wait to try out his other restaurants! I’m a big fan of Gordon so I asked our waiter if he came in often and he said he was in with his wife the week before! Gutted we missed him! Would highly recommend!

Booked a set menu that was supposed to be 4 courses + an after-dinner cocktail but ended up only being 3 courses without a cocktail The starters and desserts were really good but the mains were quite bland Overall, left a bit to be desired
