Restaurant description

An edgy urban restaurant from one of the world’s most famous chefs, Gordon Ramsay Group’s Union Street Café showcases refreshingly simple Italian cuisine. In this converted warehouse-style space, the main attraction is a theatre-style open kitchen.

Sourcing from artisan Italian producers as well as those closer to home, head chef Davide Degiovanni presents a selection of time-honoured native recipes, served with a modern twist. Wholesome recipes from the daily-changing Union Street Café menu might include chicken breast with spinach and pecorino mousse, or smoked aubergine and burrata risotto.

The trendy basement bar at Union Street Café is dotted with soft furnishings and bold art pieces, where bartenders muddle creative and classic cocktail mixes that take inspiration from the flavours of the Mediterranean.

Styled to resemble a cool, New York-style loft space, Union Street in London is a 4-minute walk from Southwark Tube Station.

We had the special menu which was extremely good. Quality excellent and good choice for our two friends who are vegetarian. Service good . Didn't rush or hassle us. Sangria drink included was more like a cocktail and enjoyed by all. Only dropped a star as no tour f the kitchens offered which was billed as included .

Unforgettable experience, staff very professional and welcoming, food amazing and the kitchen tour a great opportunity to get to know more about the restaurant. It was my husband birthday and Union Street Café was for sure the best option.

Food, drink and atmosphere were excellent. Would have been a five out of five. Our only disappointment was at the end of the evening. The kitchen is on view from the dining area and there was someone lying across one of the kitchen tables in trackie bottoms and trainers. This really didn't reflect well on the great food that had previously come from there.

Booked as a birthday surprise and didn’t disappoint. The restaurant had a great ambience and the staff were welcoming. We had the four course menu, which included mozzarella, mini bruschetta and a glass of Sangria. My partner had the cooked ham which was extremely tasty and I had the delicious carrot soup with swirls of marscapone and a crunch of hazelnuts. We both chose the pork rib eye for mains which was plentiful and succulent, accompanied by a flavourful, seasonal pumpkin purée plus we ordered a couple of sides. Puddings were lovely and light and the birthday boy also received a complimentary birthday dessert as a special touch! We were impressed by the quality of the food and had a wonderful, relaxed evening.
