Good fish & wine & service
23 January 2018
from 59 Rose Street,
A celebrated dining spot in Glasgow, Two Fat Ladies City Centre is famed for its seafood dishes, indulgent desserts, and luxurious, whimsical feel. The restaurant is styled with subtle underwater themes, fronted by the metalwork on the windows with wavy lines and fish swimming through them, with plenty of comfy furnishings inside.
The Two Fat Ladies menu focuses on Scottish seafood with a mixture of classic and contemporary tweaks. Rustic starters include St James smoked salmon with cumin-infused cauliflower, capers and soda bread, moving on to signature seared West coast scallops served with smoked haddock cream and Stornoway black pudding. For those not wanting seafood, there are other gourmet recipes like scotch beef fillet with roasted parsnips and peppercorn sauce.
Desserts at Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery in Glasgow are truly indulgent, with treats including cherry and ginger chocolate ganache with ginger nut biscuits and coconut cream. There is also a carefully crafted wine list to complement any dish on offer.
A luxurious setting to enjoy seafood and Scottish flavours, Two Fat Ladies City Centre is just a 7-minute walk from Charing Cross Rail Station.

Service was nonchalant: table was not set (we were 10mins early). Took a while to get anything (even a menu). Starters and mains were acceptable but unexceptional. Sweet (chocolate ganache) was a weird combination which did not work. Coffee and tablet were fine. Wine was fine.

We went for the pre-theatre menu which was very good value. Good selection of fresh bread ( I recommend the olive one ).The trio of beetroot starter was very good as was the smoked salmon starter. The salmon and chicken mains were generous sized portions. Deconstructed cheesecake was delicious.

Excellent lunch. Very good food, good choice on menu with reasonably priced table dhote offer. Pleasant surroundings and friendly service. All in all a first class experience for Sunday lunch.

Excellent meal in lovely quirky surroundings. Service was very good. Only downside was a slightly noisy table which was a little intrusive. Otherwise, no complaints.
