I took my friends to a pre-Christmas lunch at the Tudors Restaurant at Marygreen Manor Hotel and we all had a very nice time indeed. We opted for the lunch specials and after a lovely meal we had our coffees and mince pies in the sitting room by the fire place which was very cosy too. I would definitely recommend this lovely restaurant.

Had afternoon tea, disappointed with the cake selection that included Xmas fruit cake ( can get this at home), the eclairs very badly executed with the pink/ red icing looking as if had been thrown on and not really enough sandwiches. Tea selection was good but the china was heavy white canteen type.

Arrived at 14.30 kept waiting 10 minutes in reception to be shown to our table. We were shown to conservatory not the Tudor Room. Other tables were just finishing and one other table starting about 30 minutes after us. Service was very slow didn't order a drink for at least 15 - 20 minutes. Messy tables left, but waiter decided to start clearing them (but not finishing) before serving us. Floor was dirty around used tables. Sandwiches slightly dry, cakes good but scones dry and tasteless. Had to keep catching waiter(s) attention to get served all the time. Champagne was good but very small glasses and were not poured evenly. I did not complain at the time because the afternoon tea was purchased as a birthday present and did not want to seem ungrateful.

My daughter was given her cakes on a plate with happy birthday piped around the outside which was a lovely touch. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed. The staff where very attentive and polite. The afternoon tea itself was well presented and delicious.
