The food was lovely the staff were not attentive enough, only 1 pot of tea each with no refills which was poor.
Very expensive for the quality of food and service provided

The dining room was pleasant, but didn't have any windows. The afternoon tea was perfectly acceptable, and tasty, but outside London I've had equal quality and better for half the price. And every sandwich contained sliced cheese, which was unusal. The service was good, although the staff seemed baffled by the fact that I'd booked via After we sat down, they asked to see my booking email (fair enough), then asked me to forward that email back to the same address I'd received it from (bit strange as it should already have been in their sent box). When the time came to pay, the member of staff tried to look for this email and we seemed to be at cross purposes - it took a while to work out that I knew how much I needed to pay and just wanted to pay it.

All in all, these are petty first world problems and I am lucky and privileged to be able to have tea in a lovely hotel in London.

I booked with a voucher for something special. We were the only people there for the first half hour and yet they did not seem to be expecting us. We sat in a corner in a charmless plastic dining room with a dirty table and were asked immediately for the voucher. We sat with a small pot of tea for an hour before we got the food. The problem seemed to be the order of gluten free which I had pre- booked but seemed a complete surprise. The sandwiches were a real disappointment small in quantity and only cheese spread and cheddar on offer The gluten free were chunky and there was fruit sald too.The choice of cakes was poor and supplemented by chocolates. It was a poor experience and very poor for £36. I expected more tea to compensate for the hour wait - no doubt to get some gluten free stuff but all we got was hot water.

Afternoon tea is one of my favourite experiences, and I look forward to exploring what the various London hotels have on offer. Unfortunately, afternoon tea at the Topham was average at best. For example, the pastries were sub-par; I took a bite of the brownie - it tasted stale. I didn't bother with the rest. The scone was good; the finger sandwiches were average. I wasn't offered additional sandwiches, even though it was clear I wasn't going to eat the pastries. The tea itself was good (bagged, not loose leaf, not the hotel's brand). I wasn't offered additional hot water to refill my tea. The tea came with prosecco which was advertised as "free-flowing" - it was not (as you can guess, I wasn't offered a second glass). The décor (chairs) were surprisingly shabby - the backrests were peeling. I'm surprised the restaurant wouldn't update the chairs as they all looked well-worn. The restaurant itself was clean, and had a skylight (which would be wonderful on a sunny day!). The staff were pleasant, but engaged in other tasks. I was the only one at tea on the day of my visit. On the whole, if I were to put a value on the experience, I would say it should have cost me half of what it did. Sadly disappointing.

Not very good value for money. Only 3 small sandwiches each. Everything tasted nice.

The food was average, sandwiches, scones were dry. Glass of sparkling wine wasn't chilled, tea wasn't hot.
The service wasn't great and the decor could be improved by replacing all the chairs that had their finish peeling off onto our skin.
