Beautiful food, friendly and discrete service, beautiful location with table in the window and view out to the Thames. The perfect anniversary meal, thank you!

Set within one of London’s most famous buildings, Tom’s Kitchen Somerset House serves rustic British cuisine from highly-acclaimed chef, Tom Aikens. Guests can dine in the Scandinavian-style interior with its communal-style tables and low-hanging lighting, or take in views over the River Thames at outdoor tables.

Sourcing the very best of the season’s produce, the Tom’s Kitchen menu features sharing boards and a diverse list of mains, plus a grill section filled with rare breed meats from the Lake District. Sample Tom Aikens restaurant favourites like Cornish trout with roast cauliflower & sea vegetables, or duck breast with chicory & carrot crush. For dessert, indulgences include apricot Bakewell, or a sharing caramel & popcorn sundae, and the drinks list showcases an impressive stock of cocktails, local craft beers and wines.

Brunch at Tom’s Kitchen in London features gourmet twists, with signature dishes including seasonal berry pancakes, smoked haddock kedgeree or Tom’s namesake full English. A varied kids’ menu is also on offer, served at breakfast, lunch & dinner.

A stone’s throw from the theatres of London’s Aldwych, find this Tom Aikens restaurant a 4-minute walk from Temple Tube Station.

Disappointing. Had expected some of Tom Aiken’s magic. Service very good but food mediocre.

This has long been a favorite, but my last visit was a bit disappointing. Service was a bit scattered - waited a long time for water and drinks. Food was good, but had two issues. First, cauliflower cheese was delivered ice cold. Very disappointing as it indicates how it is prepared. Second, bacon in the burgers was a flaccid mess. Asked to have it crisped up, but that didn't happen. Sent back and returned only mildly improved.

Food and service very good, setting not so much.

Very helpful staff - enabled us to switch bits of the set priced menu without any difficulties.
And decorated a plate for one of the party's birthday,
Food was tasty - understandably the portions in the special deal were not large but just about enough.
The side extras were however very expensive for what they were and the portions similarly small.
The dessert was delicious but parts of it were not fully heated through.
Overall a pleasant evening but not one to write home about.

It's a nice cosy restaurant and we were seated next to beautiful flowers in the window. We had fantastic waitress who helped with me being gluten free. She went the extra mile and I got all the lovely fruit from the crumble dessert with no topping and ice cream, delicious and such a treat to be looked after. Lovely cold prosecco, if anything could be tweaked the beetroot risotto was not the most thrilling, it was obviously very pink, but didn't taste of much and was a big pink splat on a plate, it needed more texture, some roast beetroot through it or one salty parmesan on the top. However gravadax was absolutely delicious as was desert and lovely fresh mint tea. A great value meal and when we realised the time and had to dash the bill wa switch us in seconds. I highly recommend lunch here.
