Restaurant description

The highly-acclaimed British chef, Tom Aikens, showcases his flagship Tom’s Kitchen restaurant in Chelsea. Following an extensive refurbishment, Tom has introduced an exciting new menu offering seasonal British small plates, perfect to be shared with family and friends.

The sharing-style menu at Tom’s Kitchen Chelsea will constantly evolve, allowing Tom and his team to make the most of the short seasons of some of Britain’s finest produce, such as asparagus, rhubarb, mushrooms and game. From the menu, small plates such as Cumbrian beef tartare with black garlic aioli, new season turnips and puffed rice and charred celeriac, cured duck breast and hazelnuts, will be followed by sharing dishes including charred squid, rocket and watercress salsa verde, and spatchcock Norfolk quail with peanut sauce, pickled sweet cucumber and buttermilk.

Those looking for comfort food dishes and Tom’s Kitchen classics will be able to choose from fish pie with cider, leeks and parsley crumb; chateaubriand with onion tart and peppercorn sauce; and TK 7-hour slow-cooked shoulder of lamb hot pot.

With a focus on where food comes from and how it is grown, Tom’s Kitchen is dedicated to using UK-based suppliers and local producers, and this is celebrated in both the new menus and the redesigned space of the Chelsea restaurant. Fresh produce and thought-provoking photography of suppliers is proudly displayed to tell the story of the seasonal, local and ethically sourced ingredients used across the Tom’s Kitchen menus, and an open kitchen brings the energy and passion of the chefs into the dining room.

Although the service was a bit slow the food was real quality and was enjoyed by all the diners. I was especially impressed by the Pork Belly. Overall a very good dining experience

Starter and dessert - excellent!! Main course, not so great. I had the pork belly, the fat was solid and definitely did not melt in the mouth. Also it was quite cold where we sat (upstairs). Waiter continuously removing things from our table whilst we were still eating.

Great service, great venue, great food (especially the Mac & Cheese with truffle) but don't go if you are hungry - potion sizes are very, very small! Not just in a swanky, fine dining way.. just very small. The waiter even warned us about the small potions when we ordered and tried to upsell sides to compensate. I ordered the braised hare pasta and the waiter found it very difficult to offer me a side to compliment a pasta dish (mash or fries wouldn't exactly be an option). The waiter left feeling a little awkward. The pasta dish was delicious, but tiny - as expected. If it is an issue you are aware of and advise your staff to warn customers and advise them to buy more food - wouldn't it be better to just resolve it and increase portion sizes? Especially for stand alone dishes, like pasta....

We went for a set menu and it was good. Nothing amazing but tasty. Portions were not big but everyone was full at the end

Very pleasant ambience. Friendly staff. Starters (tuna/crab/prawns) were excellent. Mains (2×slow cooked lamb/ chicken burger) were good but not exceptional, malbec wine good.

Lovely, lively place with excellent food, let down by chaotic service. Busy Sunday afternoon; table booked for 1.30pm. I arrived up at 1.25 with my (very) elderly, disabled mother. At the time of booking I had asked for a table that could be easily accessed wit a wheelchair, but front of house had not seen the request. My mother was Kindly offered a cushion for her hard wooden chair, and despite our being told three times (although we hadn't asked) that there were "just bringing it", the cushion never appeared. We were offered drinks and ordered a bottle of sparkling water. This we did chase after it had still not arrived after 25 minutes! The acoustics are dreadful, not helped by loud music playing which creates a vicious cycle of people raising their voices to be heard over the neighbouring tables. The food is excellent and the prices aren't excessive for the location. At the end of our lunch (it took three hours and we only ate a selection of small plates), the manager was very apologetic and asked for an email address so the restaurant could contact me; but they didn't. Front of house needs to try a bit harder.

Not the best service. Waitress did not seem to know we booked the special. We had to ask for the special menu.
