Hell on Earth - we booked a week in advance to ensure a calm experience bringing 4 elderly relatives (all mid-80s with mobility problems) and were met with a scene resembling of a refugee camp. The car park was so congested at 2pm that the traffic backed up onto the adjacent roundabout. We dropped our guests at the entrance and ended up parking on the road. The entrance was jam packed with people queuing for the reception desk, there was barely room to seat our vulnerable guests while we waited for our pre-booked table which arrived at 2:10pm. We struggled past the 50 person queue for the carvery and sat crammed against people queuing and waited 15minutes for our drinks order to be taken and another 20 minutes for it to be fulfilled, ginger beer was not available either. When we waited for the carvery queue to abate it didn’t so we ventured out and joined it next to our table and 20 minutes later reached the servery. Having finally obtained our meals we were subject (those seated against the queuing route) to constant buffering as people knocked our chairs while waiting and trying to avoid staff delivering food. We will not be using a Toby again - ever.

This standard of this restaurant has deteriorated significantly over the last few months. It seems as though they are trying to put through far too many customers. Many families bring elderly relatives and as the bar area is so overcrowded there is nowhere for them to sit while waiting for their table. There are too few staff with huge queues at the bar and waitresses struggling to keep pace with the number of customers. Our table was dirty and I had to ask for replacement cutlery as it was covered in Brown sauce. I also feel that £2.55 for a diet Coke is extortionate. It is a shame that this situation has been allowed to develop as the food remains excellent.
