Derived from the Chinese for ‘living room’, Ting is a pristine lounge setting for fine Chinese cuisine and afternoon tea at Shangri-La Hotel. This spotless dining room is found on the 35th-floor of the Shard, offering truly unparalleled views of London and beyond.

Served in theatrical elegance, Shangri La's traditional afternoon tea celebrates the best of British classics, as well as a fine selection of sandwiches. For dinner, to tuck into the likes of line-caught stone bass with XO sauce and salt and pepper squid, and pork belly with char siu and salt-baked pineapple.

Floor-to-ceiling glass means guests can experience every-angle views of London while enjoying the Shangri-La experience. A range of classic cocktail mixes is mixed at the bar, and thirst-quenching non-alcoholic concoctions include the Asian fruit punch, and basil & tea.

Ting at The Shard is found just 2 minutes’ walk from London Bridge Station.

On the 35th floor of the Shard, the restaurant has a great view, which is showcased in picture windows. The restaurant decor is rather bland with nothing standing out, perhaps because the views of London are overpowering. The afternoon tea was acceptable, but, again, rather bland. I had hoped that the Oriental tea would be on offer, but it was not to be.
