Split over 2 floors, Tiles brings a selection of modern European dishes in a lively bistro environment. An upstairs bar serves up enticing drinks while a few pavement tables allow for al fresco dining in the warmer months.

As well as their famous beer-battered haddock with hand-cut chips and authentic mushy peas, Tiles restaurant offers recipes ranging from home-made pizza to Welsh lamb stew. The assortment of burgers on the mouth-watering Tiles menu boasts an exquisite option of a chicken and chorizo burger topped with gooey melted goat’s cheese. A dessert list can be found on the rustically-charming chalk boards.

Sink in to a cosy leather sofa at Tiles in Victoria and gorge on a sumptuous afternoon tea, with fruit scones, clotted cream and jam, as well as a cute chocolate-dipped strawberry. Organic teas are available, while deep red walls and candlelit tables make a great backdrop for the select wine list and contemporary cocktails.

The impressive Buckingham Palace is a 7-minute walk from Tiles in London. Victoria Tube Station is a 3-minute walk away.

I have been going to Tiles regularly for about 30 years. I think it has recently changed management again. I like Tiles as it is a good venue to meet friends and enjoy a reasonably priced meal. The menu is not very exciting - especially for vegetarians where the options are usually risotto or pasta. Having said that the goats cheese salad minus the parma ham was very good. There is a good wine list which is reasonably priced. The decor is dull but the service is very polite and attentive. This is not a place to go for a real fun night out. We were the only clients in the downstairs area from 7.00 p.m. yesterday - but it suited us and we will be back.

Between 18.00 and 22.00. An unhurried friendly experience with good food and wine.

I am a regular dinner customer at Tiles. It has a great bistro atmosphere and the service is always friendly. Good value too. It's a great place for business chats or to catch up with friends.

We meet here regularly around 6.30 mid week after work. The theatre menu is excellent value and sometimes we just enjoy a bottle of wine and one of their excellent platters. Best to reserve a table upstairs. Downstairs is rather dark (no windows) and lacks the buzzy atmosphere of upstairs. Very convenient place to meet for getting to by tube.

We had lunch at 12.30 - most of us had salmon fishcakes which are a firm favourite
