Dating all the way back to 1647, The Woodman is a charming example of an historic rural pub in the sleepy village of Fernham. Filled with rustic original features an a cosy charm, this is the perfect hideaway to enjoy gourmet British dishes, sit outside on the patio with a cask ale and take in the country air.
Enjoy a classic pub selection on The Woodman menu, with crowd-pleasing dishes given subtle gourmet tweaks. At lunch, enjoy rustic sandwiches served a cup of soup or chips, with fillings including Wiltshire ham and mustard, or go for a classic ploughman's. Later in the day, succulent steaks are served from the charcoal grill, and there are other home-style treats such as steak and ale pie, fish and chips, and slow-roasted lamb shank.
3-course Sunday lunches are a popular treat at The Woodman in Oxfordshire, while the pudding selection offers up irresistible options like gingerbread pudding, or the meringue and chocolate gelato cake. Be sure to try one of the local cask ales from the bar, or round off a meal with a loose leaf tea or gourmet coffee.
A beautiful countryside pub with a rich history, The Woodman is just a 20-minute drive outside of Swindon.

This is a lovely dining experience. We have eaten here quite a few times and always have a great meal. The owners and staff are lovely and welcoming. Great for families, groups, people with dogs.... a fantastic dining experience.

Absolutely delicious. We shared the Chorizo / Squid starter, I had the lamb shank main and partner had the pork dish and we shared the ginger cake desert. I can't fault the service or the food and price was reasonable - a real gem of a pub / restaurant.

Our first time here and we were very pleased with the lovely food, quick and friendly service. Bit pricey for a village pub but then you do get quality. Lovely tables and decor, clean and nice place. Only let down for us was that when we first arrived there was only one other table with people on and we could easily speak to each other across the table. It seems a popular place and filled up quickly and then the noise level went through the roof. Even if we shouted across the table at each other we could not hear each other so we left.
