Disappointing - the location history and building are great - the food was very disappointing - very bland and drastically overpriced for what was put on the plates - this was not a fine dining experience sorry

I ordered lemon grass sole as a main course and IT was completely disappointing. Totally overcooked. Normal l’y a reason for Rewe Ding to the kitchen. And this at a high Price of 39 pound sterling. Incredible

Went here for special birthday celebration. Booking online was extremely easy. We were seated in the Secret Garden room which is our favourite of the two dining areas. Absolutely brilliant and attentive service. Excellent food and drinks. A real treat

This was our third time in the Witchery for our anniversaries. 15 and 5 years ago and now. A sentimental value for our 25th anniversary. I browsed through some reviews prior to booking just to confirm in my mind I was making the right choice again. I should have listened to the less starry reviews - a restaurant that informs you ahead when they want you to leave is not appreciating their customers or if you want to taste their food go there, if you want to actually eat go elsewhere or not good value for money etc. To start with, we were denied our strong prior request (booked one month ahead) to be seated in the main hall - not sure if it was the fault of Bookatable website or the Witchery`s but that ruined our expectations and celebration. Maybe had we received a sincere apology and/or were offered a complimentary drink to compensate us for our profound disappointment it would have softened the impact. Instead just cold professional explanation that it certainly was not their fault and that they could potentially seat us in the requested restaurant two and half hours later. The front of the house staff just did not care. Had we not been dressed for the occasion and had we known any other suitable restaurant we would have left. We were prepared to treat ourselves, but in the end we just had a couple of drinks, starter and shared a meal for two with a bottle of wine (I had to order extra portion of chips for £5 not to go hungry). At least the staff had enough common sense not to put 10% hospitality surcharge on our £187.00 bill. The food was tasty enough, but probably mentioning that the beef was rather tough and grisly would have been perceived as sour grapes at the time. The ambiance must have been as expected, but somehow I did not notice.... The actual staff waiting on us provided a reasonable service. So much about loyalty.... luckily we are still together! Maybe my expectations were too high. We`ll certainly start a new tradition for our 30th.
