The ambience, quality of food and service puts this place in the 'first division'

I have not been to the Windmill in years I loved the changes since new ownership! The service was great and more important the food was outstanding! Would highly recommend the pub for a great meal!

Superb food, location & atmosphere. Not bad value for money either. Service excellent although they could smile a little more.

This venue has long been a favourite of ours, however we have not eaten there for 2 years having moved away. Treated ourselves last week only to find that the menu is very much shortened. The dishes now available have become a bit too fancy. The prices were hard to find and understand. The wine is horrendously overpriced. The meal when it came had two problems. a) The fish was served on a piece of cardboard which wasn't found until part of it had been eaten! Apparently the Chef insists that this is the Kentish way of serving it. No, not as far as this Kent born diner is aware. b) The Pork dish was very tasty, but all sides were separate and at a cost. Fair enough, but when I asked for a side dish, I was told I would't need one as it was all included in the dish. It wasn't, and I did. Finally not keen on restaurants that automatically add 10% service charge (don't remember that from before, however it might have been the case). Service was brilliant as always and I have to say when we mentioned about the cardboard we were offered dessert on the house, and when we declined we received a 10% discount. So the staff are wonderful and helpful, but we feel that the overall experience has gone down hill.

Overall it was rather pricy. The mussels were excellen and it was a thoughtful touch to give us a celebratory plate of chocolate truffles. The waiting staff were worth the 10%.
The fish in batter was over cooked.
