A former dairy farm, The Willy Wicket serves quintessentially British food from an extensive menu, and enjoys a grassy beer garden framed by the pub’s red-brick exterior. Based in Bristol, the dining room features roaring open fires, black oak beam ceilings and squashy leather sofas.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Willy Wicket menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while the ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
Surrounded by rolling countryside, The Willy Wicket in Downend boasts many rambling walks and idyllic beauty spots, while The Kendleshire Golf Club is just a 4-minute drive away.

Love this place normally, eaten here a few times with friends and thought it would be a good place to celebrate with my family our sisters 70th birthday. And as the 7 of us don't meet up that often, had loads to talk about.
On arrival we were greeted well and taken to our table next to a table of about 18 with about 4 small children.
We sat down waiting for others to turn up, and quickly realised that this wasn't going to be the sort of meal we had hoped. The children on the large table were running around us and shouting. (As we realise it's out of your control not much could have been done). My family arrived and sat down with us. The table we were on was next to a radiator that was very hot and as you know we've just come through a heatwave so we asked if it could be turned off, we were told it was broken and nothing could be done ! So we put up with this heat. The other family tried to keep seated the children but they really didn't want to sit and stared screaming and crying (others in this part of the restaurant were looking and raising there eyebrows.. the waitress was lovely, As we tried to order our lunch over all the noise ! Starters came and was enjoyed, 6 of the mains came and to be polite we waited but soon realised the 8th meal wasn't coming we started to eat while it wa hot.. we asked the waitress where it was and she said it had been dropped and they were having to make up another, the meal came (pie with mash and cabbage) the cabbage was still raw, the mash was cold and not much chicken in the pie ! So as you can imagine my sister in law didn't enjoy or even eat much of her dinner ! Meanwhile the other table was getting more lively and louder. When I booked I did put that this was a 70th birthday meal ! can't fault the service but being put by the hottest radiator in the summer and by a loud and unruly family next to us, I would really have to think again about booking this place for a quieter lunch !

Out of 3 meals ordered too meals was returned being served cold , so one person had to eat on there own and he was finished before our meals came out, also the presentation was very bland. A shared sweet plater was ordered yet the spoon would not slice the chocolate brownie, it was like a brick. What is going on, this was a diaster birthday treat that was ruined, not happy, will not return to this restaurant a gain

Very poor. Waited 1hr for first course and the wrong meal was delivered. Then waited another hour before getting dessert course. One of the desserts was not the meal advertised on the menu. The only thing that was good was the waitress who tried her best.
Not a good experience

Very busy which meant long waits for each course and my main meal was overlooked, as though it had been kept warm. Waiting staff extremely good, apologised for delays, very friendly, hand held order pad not working so that was not helping. Our pre booked table was set amongst large parties so we asked to move, this was done with no problem. Not one of our best meals here.
