A former dairy farm, The Willy Wicket serves quintessentially British food from an extensive menu, and enjoys a grassy beer garden framed by the pub’s red-brick exterior. Based in Bristol, the dining room features roaring open fires, black oak beam ceilings and squashy leather sofas.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Willy Wicket menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while the ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
Surrounded by rolling countryside, The Willy Wicket in Downend boasts many rambling walks and idyllic beauty spots, while The Kendleshire Golf Club is just a 4-minute drive away.

As soon as you walk in you get the sense of a cosy welcoming country feel pub, comfy armchairs and sofas with a wood burning open fire. You then get the best of both worlds, a pub feel or a restaurant feel. They do both well and keep them separate. Enjoyed a lovely valentine's meal and on a very busy night the service was still good and the food excellent.

Request for vegetarian Halloumi salad arrived with ham on! Guest found the ham half way through eating. Rest of meals were mediocre.

All roasts were gone by the time we arrived (7pm) on sunday. We were told every other item menu was available by one waitress however upon ordering they did not have the Camembert and no fillet steaks either!! Service was okay, food was pretty poor. It was evident that everything came out of a freezer. Cold , rubbery calamari rings to start and then the sea bass was very dry. My other guests were unimpressed with the ribeye steak and chips and overall the food was poorly presented and lacked flavour. The prices charged were excessive for the quality of the food so we will not be going again.
