The usual high standard and excellent food we have come to expect. Probably our favourite restaurant in our vicinity. The Covid arrangements were good and plenty of space between tables

The ambience of the restaurant is superb and the food was excellent, although we would have liked to have been warned about how hot the plates were (ouch!). We ordered a £30 bottle of wine and whilst trying to remove the cork the waiter broke the cork in the bottle. He then took the bottle away and returned with a bottle of wine with no cork to inspect! Not good that such an expensive bottle of wine is not fully opened at the table, or alternatively that we were given the broken cork to inspect...if this was the bottle he opened. Service from the waiter was ok, and whilst we understood his requirement to wear a face mask he didn't take this into account when he spoke to us as it wasn't loud enough and with the further background restaurant noise we found ourselves asking him on more than one occasion to repeat himself. He wasn't what we would call attentive as we had to call him over a couple of times (to request more gravy and to order desert). A further minor point, unlike his fellow waiters and waitresses he clearly had put on his work shirt unironed which we felt was letting the side down.

Fantastic mushroom risotto! Portion size a little small, I would have liked more as it was so delicious

Delicious meal, for starters the Pork belly was so tender, potato and leek soup was creamy and very tasty. Mains - Chicken supreme was perfectly cooked. Creme brûlée was just yummy however the cheese and biscuits were just ok, only one choice of cheese though and the home made chutney wasn’t that great. Overall it was a lovely meal and we would definitely return.
