Absolutely love the wild boar my favourite place to eat. Afternoon tea was spot on. Mad pig ale is the best beer I’ve ever tasted. Lovely pub, lovely restaurant, perfect autumn afternoon.

3 parties (2couples & us - party of 5 mature ladies) n all seated in same part of restaurant felt we had to be quiet as we would be overheard but restaurant was empty, we could have been seated in our own area. No alternative offered to fruit scones when one of our party asked, stale cake & tiny portions. No cocktail menu, nothing given to the birthday girl in our party, old uncomfortable cramped seating & miserable staff. Won't be back, expensive, overrated & felt we were a nuisance, where we easily have spent same again on cocktails or gin if made to feel comfortable & welcome. No Cumbrian hospitality here.

The food was very good, my wife was a bit upset there was no mini burgers as shown on the website also everyone we know who’s been has had them ??The best food by far was the pork pie, unfortunately the warm ale let it down for me, the room was a bit chilly we all thought.

Service was brilliant as always and a lovely venue, but was disappointed with the afternoon tea I have been before and they have changed form the little sandwiches to chicken wings which were cold which I expected to be warm and just was generally lacking a little umph on the afternoon tea... felt very thrown together.

My husband, daughter and myself enjoyed a really lovely afternoon tea at The Wild Boar. It had been recommended to you by our son and it didn’t disappoint. Afternoon tea is normally little sandwiches and a lot of cake but The Wild Boar savoury afternoon tea is by far the best we’ve had. If I could have changed one thing it would have been the pork crackling, not for any other reason than it’s just not something I particularly like but my husband & daughter enjoyed them. Being a savoury afternoon tea with just a little cake you really felt like you had eaten properly. We had a lovely table in the lounge area where there was space for our dog to lie down without being in the way. The food was explained and we certainly didn’t feel rushed in any way. If there was a slight downer it was people at another table who had 2 dogs one of which barked regularly when it wasn’t getting fed titbits from its owner. There were other dogs in the lounge who were lying quietly beside there owners, if you hadn’t seen them you wouldn’t have known they were there. It was just a shame these people had to slightly spoil what would have been a lovely afternoon.

Very good Sunday Roast. The beef was very tender and there was a good selection of vegetables served.
