Restaurant setting was lovely with log fires and comfy seating. We had the alternative afternoon tea and all of the food was really tasty - a little pricey but nice for a treat.

Me and my partner ate here for breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner during our stay and we enjoyed every meal we had. We were always greeted by a welcoming member of staff and were treated very well by all members of staff who served us. The food was absolutely delicious, I would highly recommend eating here as the food is amazing. The only slight downside was after finishing our meals we were left and not checked up on again afterwards, resulting in us having to go to the bar to pay for our meals and also leaving our empty plates on the table to be collected. Other than this, we had a great time and we will definitely be returning!

Afternoon Tea was wonderful particularly the Fish and Chips . Ginger bread was to die for. Little sausages could have been browned a bit more but everything lovely and would come again. Staff are polite, helpful and friendly . Lovely atmosphere and welcoming . Well done every one

Staff were fantastic very tentative and friendly. As we were leaving a lady in a white shirt (assuming she was a manager) asked if we would like the fruit we ordered for the children to be boxed up for the short journey home. It’s little touches like this that make us come back again and again. The Wild boar gets better and better! Oh the food was fantastic also, nearly forgot that bit.

The restaurant décor is lovely with its period features, including a very nice bar area, and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Complimentary bread is brought once you are seated, and we ordered a portion of the pigs in blankets, which were very good. For main, we both had the 10oz fillet steak which was extremely good, with sides of mashed potato and cauliflower cheese, and peppercorn and gravy sauces (all also very good). Note: It is not stated anywhere, but it seems that the steaks come with a side at no extra cost, which was a nice surprise when the bill arrived. The wine list was good, with a good selection to choose from (bottles offered in price bands). As we were rather full, we had to wait a little bit until we were ready for pudding, which the staff were more than happy with and simply brought us the menu and left us until we were ready, they were not over keen to sell us puddings quickly, which was another plus. My fiancé had the chocolate delice which was huge and I had the cheese board - the most disappointing part of the meal. I was given a very healthy portion of cheddar, but only a wafer thin slice of brie and two very thin slices of the goats cheese. The was accompanied by a chilli jam, which I'm not sure wasn't just a regular breakfast berry jam, as it was very sweet and had no taste of chilli. That being said, the overall meal was very enjoyable and really not badly priced at all (used to London prices so that may be a factor).

I brought my nana here for afternoon tea on Thursday, it was fantastic, nice to see savoury as well as sweet. The choice of beer, prosecco or pimms at no extra cost was a lovely surprise! The afternoon tea was presented beautifully and the staff were fantastic. We were so impressed that we will be returning in November with our family for my nanas 70th birthday!

Lovely place and the food is great. I've been here several times and always have steak because it's never less than perfectly cooked and deliciously tender. Sadly on this occasion the service was extremely slow, even though there was hardly anyone in that early in the evening, and the sticky toffee pudding was a bit burnt. First time I've ever been disappointed here, so it's probably a one-off and won't stop me going again.
