Inside a beautiful and historic 15th-century Tudor hotel, Sadler's Brasserie at The White Hart is a sophisticated slice of traditional British dining. Head Chef Matthew Briddon brings experience from some of the country's top kitchens, while the plush furnishings and traditional décor create a comfortable, inviting setting.

Classic British recipes are given inventive tweaks throughout the Sadler's Brasserie menu, all using the finest ingredients. To start, there are bold flavours in options like the pickled beetroot with truffle-whipped goats’ cheese, candied hazelnuts and beetroot essence, as well as hay-smoked salmon pot with horseradish, chive crème fraîche and caviar. Hearty mains include confit belly of pork with crispy pork wontons, and fillet of beef rossini with Madeira truffle jus.

Afternoon tea at Sadler's Brasserie Wells is a real treat – there are sumptuous finger sandwiches, classic scones with jams and clotted cream, as well as other baked treats, and loose leaf teas. There is a select wine list also, with vintages from around the globe.

A truly historic setting filled with traditional comforts, Sadler's Brasserie at The White Hart is moments from Wells Cathedral, and 30 minutes' drive from Bruton Rail Station.

Highly recommended! This was our first visit to Sadler's Brasserie on the occasion of our 30th wedding anniversary. My wife and I ordered the pan fried mackerel as a starter, Somerset pork belly for the main course and mango cheesecake for desert. All beautifully cooked, very well presented and washed down with a bottle of light French Anjou rose wine - perfect!. I had previously mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary when booking and the chef had very carefully written 'happy anniversary' on our desert plates, a lovely thought skillfully crafted in chocolate sauce. Our waitress, Emily was very attentive, polite, full of smiles and a charming hostess from the very moment we entered the restaurant. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for its excellent food and great service. Thank you to all the staff for making our anniversary such a special occasion.

We liked the decor and the music. There was a nice choice on the menu, my husband really liked the Chocolate Delice. I do think the ladies toilets need a little TLC. They are miles away from the decor in the restaurant.

Fabulous food. The best restaurant Sunday lunch I have possibly ever had! Willing waiter could do with some training, plonking the ice bucket of wine on the table with"here's your wine" slightly took me aback. Not his fault, he was doing his best. But really really good food!

The 5 course tasting menu was excellent, our favourite dish was the halibut. The service was particularly good - friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

We had a warm and friendly welcome from the manageress, and the rest of the staff who looked after our every need during the meal. The room is very cosy, the table lay out looked a little squashed, but as the room filled, it didn't spoil the atmosphere at all. We loved each course, and they got better as we went through the 5 dishes. The sauces were fabulous, my husband wished he had a jug more! The soup was beautiful, and Seabass was gorgeous . We'd return for those alone. Thank you to all.
