Restaurant description

One of Surrey’s most historic pubs, The White Hart on Godstone Green was a coaching inn dating back to the 16th century. It now boasts an extensive restaurant and impressive bar, as well as a central decked courtyard, an intimate terrace and two private dining rooms in a charming Grade II-listed building.

The White Hart on Godstone Green menu showcases smoky Josper-grilled steaks, crisp wood-fired pizzas and hearty Sunday roasts which sit alongside a seasonally changing menu with dishes like Moroccan lamb rump with mint and yoghurt dressing or roast chicken and pancetta pie with gravy.

The White Hart on Godstone Green bar boasts boutique wines, an extensive draught range and a selection of hand-crafted cocktails that can be sipped bar-side or paired perfectly with the food. It offers two event spaces, both beautiful large rooms, one off the patio in the courtyard perfect for summer celebrations and the other within the main pub with a roaring open fire, making for an intimate dining experience.

The White Hart on Godstone Green is a 4-minute drive from Godstone Rail Station.

The BBQ ribs were not very hot and the portion was small, as was the haddock fish cakes. Also the apple crumble tart for dessert could have been warmer. There didn't seem to be any difference in the amount in a medium glass of wine or a small glass. 3 of our meals were served together and we had to wait sometime for the 4th dish.

The main meals were OK, but puddings were such a let down. Gooey chocolate brownie was soo small and for £6.50 such a disappointment, We mentioned this to the waiting staff who took them (2 of us ordered them) back to the kitchen, but she came back and advised that was what it was, basically take it or leave it! I decided to have it but it was so small you couldn't really get a taste and the one she brought back to me was actually smaller than the original one I had! My friend chose something else so we did think that as a gesture of goodwill they might have said we could have the other one, but no sign of it! Terrible customer service, no apology, no sign of a manager. Someone else had the crumble tart and again they were disappointed, saying the crumble was all oats and not a crumble topping at all, and the custard was almost non existent and not worth mentioning that it came with custard. Definitely won't be going back in a hurry

We did not visit on a good day for this pub restaurant as there were water supply problems and one of the ovens was not working. So several main dishes and desserts were unavailable. And the food that we did get was not hot enough although very tasty. Service was good under difficult circumstances for the staff. Dessert portion size was disappointing although good quality. Given the problems I am going to give the place the benefit of the doubt when it comes to my overall 4 star rating.

Excellent value for money and excellent food. If you dine before 7pm it's two for one pizzas, which where delicious. Amstel lager £3 before 8 and 25% of wine at the moment. So three Amstel a bottle of Sauvignon 2 pizzas and a pud for £40 !!!!

Disappointing, my first main course was raw inside, my replacement dish of something different was also raw inside. Management dealt very well with the issue but this spoilt a family celebration
