Restaurant description

One of Surrey’s most historic pubs, The White Hart on Godstone Green was a coaching inn dating back to the 16th century. It now boasts an extensive restaurant and impressive bar, as well as a central decked courtyard, an intimate terrace and two private dining rooms in a charming Grade II-listed building.

The White Hart on Godstone Green menu showcases smoky Josper-grilled steaks, crisp wood-fired pizzas and hearty Sunday roasts which sit alongside a seasonally changing menu with dishes like Moroccan lamb rump with mint and yoghurt dressing or roast chicken and pancetta pie with gravy.

The White Hart on Godstone Green bar boasts boutique wines, an extensive draught range and a selection of hand-crafted cocktails that can be sipped bar-side or paired perfectly with the food. It offers two event spaces, both beautiful large rooms, one off the patio in the courtyard perfect for summer celebrations and the other within the main pub with a roaring open fire, making for an intimate dining experience.

The White Hart on Godstone Green is a 4-minute drive from Godstone Rail Station.

Excellent food. Very tasty. Sat outside was impressed with Covid safety measures ie sanitiser, one way system & instructions. However I was surprised the staff were not wearing masks, but we were outside, maybe that was why.

Very disappointed with our meal. Been a regular at the White Hart but this was our first visit since lockdown. The staff were fantastic but the menu limited and the food not worth the money.

Staff friendly. Food good. Service very slow but they took the price off our dessert to compensate

Hi. This visit was the second time in a couple of weeks. Overall everything was good. The food was good. The service was very friendly. However, one comment I would make is that some of the staff are very careful to take care with social distancing and other staff are less careful. I do personally believe that we have to be vigilant and keep this nasty virus at bay. I have noticed that people in supermarkets are also taking less care at the moment and becoming complacent. With the winter coming this is more important as we will all be spending more time indoors. One thing you may wish to consider (or perhaps you have considered?) is that one member(s) of staff deliver the food and drinks and another member(s) does the collections of dirty glasses. I did think that this was happening as this is what appeared to happen on the previous visit. Many thanks.

Very courteous and efficient rather bemused to get the main course prior to the starter and drinks; roast lamb main course rather tepid but very good content.

Had a roast beef dinner. The meat was perfect but the parsnip was almost raw and had trouble cutting through it. Mediocre for the price. Good atmosphere and friendly staff

Poor! Place needs a deep clean, tables are to close together and the food was microwave mush - not a roast potato in sight. Overpriced for the small one and a half slices of beef. Both tables next to us complaining about cold food too! Toilets were dirty with cobwebs all over the windows. Service was poor with the drinks arriving well after the food and getting someone’s attention to take orders and clear plates was painful. I’ll definitely be giving this place a miss until they up their game! Such a shame as it was great when they first opened - what’s happened!!!!
