In the idyllic hamlet of Ford, near Chippenham, The White Hart is a quintessential English country pub, delivering well-loved British classics made using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The refurbished 16-century pub boasts a spacious terrace for al fresco summer dining; inside, cosy décor includes some of the building’s original features, with clashing tartan upholstery, exposed brick walls & painted wall panels painted in fresh tones of sea-blue and mint green, as well as distressed-look tables & benches.
The White Hart specialises in juicy Black Angus steaks, cooked to perfection in the charcoal oven. Other favourites on the menu include tea-smoked duck with wild mushrooms, mixed leaves & pine nuts, slow-cooked pork with sage, apple, creamed potato & kale, and Gloucester sausages with mash, topped with rich bacon & onion gravy.
For something different, try a sharing platter with friends, such as the baked box Camembert with sourdough toast & sticky onion jam. The menu also features sandwiches & ciabattas, a selection of vegetarian & kids’ dishes, and a list of tempting desserts. Traditional roast is served on Sundays, and the pub also boasts a large selection of lagers, ales & cider, as well as a list of wine wines and refreshing cocktails mixed by the skilled bar team.
The White Hart in Chippenham is a 10-minute drive from Chippenham Rail Station.

Very nice location staff very efficient and well organised. We had roast beef followed by chocolate brownie all nicely served and delicious. Could do with more choice of sweets but very good experience

Charming old pub in idyllic setting. Polite attentive servers. Food was good and the brownie confection was scrumptious. Highly recommended

Excellent fish and chips and haddock fish cakes with two pints of Razor Back overlooking the river in glorious sunshine - what's not to like?

We live locally so go to the White Hart fairly often. This time we went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had therefore asked for a private table if possible, so we could enjoy a romantic evening. Unfortunately we were seated in a table where people continually walked past and near a table of 4 noisy men. We asked to be moved and were told we could move to the 'goldfish bowl'. That was much nicer. Why ask for any special requests and then ignore them. I wasn't expecting red carpet treatment but it would've made things special if someone had wished us a happy anniversary

We had a nice meal and good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant area where we were was quite dirty, particularly the carpet and window. The table & cutlery etc, were clean though.

Fantastic service, and food! Staff are very accommodating and pleasant. Beautiful pub and grounds/surroundings. Will definitely be coming again.

Really good food and good service. However tables are far to close to one another, hardly 1m let alone 2m. The area we were seated there was plenty of room to be spaced out but were still very close to the people next to us.
