I've been to the Bistro several times and both the food and the service are excellent. It is a nice, friendly place where you can eat very well at a very reasonable price. Great value for money. In my view, this is one of the best restaurants in the area.

Nestled inside the stunning Kilconquhar Castle Estate, The White Cockade Bistro is a charming family-friendly eatery. A great selection of Scottish flavours are served throughout the day, while the homely interior features comfy leather seats, historic local photographs on the wall, and curious nautical knick knacks throughout.

The White Cockade Bistro menu starts off with a range of continental breakfast options, as well as the celebrated full Scottish cooked breakfast with black pudding and haggis. For lunch, there are rustic sandwiches, baked potatoes and other wholesome favourites, while at dinner the menu opens up to include gourmet bistro recipes. There are fresh seafood treats like pots of steamed West Coast mussels, as well as other local specialities like the casserole of mint-infused mutton.

The Scottish delicacies continue on the dessert menu at The White Cockade Bistro in Fife, with the 'Dream of Robert the Bruce' pudding featuring an all-butter shortbread sandwich filled with vanilla ice cream, butterscotch sauce, and finished with fresh strawberries, whipped cream and chocolate pieces. Up at the bar, there are international beers on tap, as well as bottles of whisky from across Scotland.

With a snug, homely feel, The White Cockade Bistro also offers dedicated menus for kids, and is just a 5-minute drive from the picturesque Kilconquhar Loch.

We were a party of four booked for dinner. We were greeted promptly and warmly by a member of staff and shown to our table. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and warm (when we visited last, the area in which we were seated suffered from a very cold draught, which we mentioned to our server at the time, but as were seated in the same area this has obviously been rectified). Our drinks orders were taken and promptly delivered.
All three courses that we had were very nicely presented and very well cooked. One dish worthy of a mention is the T-bone steak which was succulent, tasty and very tender, sadly it was accompanied only by half a baby tomato and a large portion of “onions in a Cajun sauce”, which appeared to be baby silver skin onions, possibly pickled, in a strange/odd/weird and decidedly disharmonious, slightly spicy; brown gloop. This concoction certainly detracted greatly from an otherwise excellent dish. If the chef is reading this then please just stick to the T-bone classic accompaniments - large beef tomato roasted or griddled, sautéed mushrooms and ideally crisply battered onion rings too; simple does not necessarily detract from a dish and in this instance would enhance it immensely.
Our overall experience was very good and we will be back, actually tomorrow, but also, we think, on a fairly regular basis.
Special mention to our servers who were very friendly, very helpful and intent on ensuring we had a great dining experience.

Our dining experience was made all that better by Brian who is front of house such a lovely friendly man very attentive and a great knowledge of the Gins and Whiskies that were on offer he welcomed every customer in such a warm and friendly manner he is an absolute credit to the Bistro.

Used the bistro on their Tuesday night steak dinner. Excellent value for money, steals cooked to perfection and very tender. Young waiting staff, still learning but doing very well.

Excellent meal in a relaxed environment. Friendly service. The beetroot and vegetable smoked cheese tart was amazing.

We had a lovely family dinner for 15 of us. The restaurant staff worked very hard to accommodate us and gave a great service. Some of the food on the menu was not available for example, T-Bone Steaks but we picked alternatives, which were fine.

Service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The menu was comprehensive and I ordered Cullin Skink - best ever and followed by Beef Stoganoff which was delicious and both were generous portions. Strongly recommend this dining experience
