Very well laid out business. Benefits from having the feeling of a local friendly village pub and superb dining experience should you wish to have a good meal, lunch or snack. Reasonably priced too for the high quality of the food we had. Personally I had the Squid to start which was excellent and cooked exactly how it should be, served with a lovely dipping garlic sauce too. Main was belly pork on a bed of mash with butternut squash & other veg accompanied by a tasty rich ju (gravy if you prefer to call it) Very tasty and decent size portion too. Great start to our evening out at the Stables Theatre, just 5 mins away, where we go quite a lot to see some great live music groups. Far better than the regular chain restaurants where we have been to previously before going to the Stables. We will for sure be back as we visit the music venue quite often. Many thanks.

We were kept waiting for 40 minutes before they served our meal. My pork belly was very disappointing more soggy fat than meat..not what you would expect from a meal costing £15.50. My friends salmon portion was very disappointing too. I will not be going back

There was no one avialable at front of house and had to make ourselves known to your bar staff. When we were finally shown to our table we were given a small table along side the main walkway opposite a large table that hadnt been cleaned down from the previous users. i asked to be moved. We were then given a further table that wasnt stable and wobbled. i had to sort the table myself to avoid spiling our drinks When the waiter arrived we were advised that various dishes were not avilable as you had run out, we chose the roast only to be told that you may have run out of yorkshire puddings, to which i said you should pop to tescos for some aunt Bessies !!, however you thankfully had enough The roast was nice, however the desert, apple & rubarb crumble was served cold as was the coffee All in all an experience i wlll not be repeating

Food was really great. Best steak me and the wife have had in years from a restaurant. The service was poor though due to the waitress spending a lot of time with one table and neglecting the others in her area. We had to order our food from multiple different servers to get our order. So would recommend for the food but if the service improves can be a great place to eat.

5 of us dined on Sunday 26th May. We all preferred previous decor, looked far more spacious and modern. 2 of us had the salmon which was delicious. Two had cod and chips but 1 returned as chips like charcoal and had replacement which were a little better. Had mini deserts but noticed the cheesecake not included on new menu and lemon tart which used to be included in summer menu still not returned. This was our favourite. Very very busy but staff pleasant and service good considering how many diners.

We eat regularly at The Wavendon Arms usually before going onto The Stables. Very disappointed on this occasion, we found it very noisy and on arrival there seemed to be a shortage of staff. Our drinks order was taken on being shown to our table, we were told this was to save us waiting, we must have waited at least 15 mins for our drinks to arrive, on questioning the delay we were told that there was only one staff member on the bar !
