A traditional country pub serving modern British cuisine, The Walpole Arms dates back to the 18th century and sits in picturesque Norfolk countryside.
The chefs have created a mouth-watering menu prepared using seasonal local produce. Favourites include chargrilled 21-day aged sirloin steak with mushrooms, oven-dried tomatoes, salad & triple-cooked chips, roast red pepper & mozzarella risotto ball with slow cooked tomato sauce, artichoke & shaved pecorino salad, and pan-fried guinea fowl breast & confit leg with a potato terrine, caramelised chicory & chorizo.
Complementing the Walpole Arms menu are an extensive wine list & a tempting dessert menu. The pub serves a traditional roast every Sunday, and quiz nights are held on Wednesdays.
The traditional bar area features Norfolk red brick, oak beams and a wood burner to keep you warm in those cold winter months. With a cosy seating area, the Garden Room opens out onto the vine-covered terrace, creating the perfect setting for al fresco dining.
The Walpole Arms in Norfolk is a 10-minute drive from Aylsham Rail Station.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions we had booked a table for 7.30pm so we were very surprised that our service was so slow! We had to catch the eye of the waiting staff asking to have our drinks and later our food orders taken. Our drinks order arrived at 8.10 and our food arrived at 8.50! I’m pleased the report that the food (and beers) were excellent; we went tapas all the way.

I booked for lunch last Friday and came with my wife and two boys. The boys had burgers which they loved (they are not easily pleased and quite picky). My wife and I shared 6 or 7 tapas which were excellent. I have a house in Spain, have travelled extensively throughout the country and would say I have eaten a lot of tapas. These were very authentic, the real deal and absolutely delicious. The best tapas I have had in England for sure. Only advice would be to broaden the range of Ale, there are many craft beers and real ales, some locally which would compliment the food better.

We had a lovely leisurely lunch at the Walpole Arms in July. We had not been since it changed hands but the tapas menu is fantastic. We all had the set menu which was delicious and obviously authentic. We will definitely come back and have already recommended to friends.

Disappointed that the Walpole had gone down the tapas route. Two of the party had the set menu and it all looked good but a tad expensive for a pub lunch. Service very good.
