Renowned for its impeccable service, 3 AA Rosettes and 30,000 bottle wine cellar, The Vineyard at Stockcross offers exquisite fine dining creations. Guests can sample a wine from the multi-award-winning selection, whilst looking out onto the tranquil gardens.

At the helm of the kitchen is Robby Jenks, who takes local, sustainable and seasonal produce and creates classical dishes using modern techniques. From the 7-course tasting menu, discover spectacular dishes such as Devonshire cod with cauliflower, curry and coconut, and tenderloin and belly of suckling pig with cabbage, bacon and apple. Exquisite desserts include chocolate, salted caramel and cacao nibs with fromage blanc sorbet.

Renowned as one of the top wine hotels outside of London, The Vineyard is a temple to Californian wine. The impressive 30,000 bottle wine cellar is overseen by UK Young Sommelier of the year 2016, Romain Bourger, who is on hand to help guests find the perfect match.

Boasting opulent surroundings and a private art collection, The Vineyard Stockcross lies a 9-minute drive from central Newbury.

Friendly greeting and good service at the table. Food very good but portions quite small on the 3 course lunch menu. Dessert selection not massively inspiring. Good value overall and content with the meal overall.

Overall good. Menu was interesting although the ease with which we actually chose after applying our usual "filters" (e.g. veal, foi gras) suggests we didn't actually end up having much of a choice. But the food was excellent - halibut was lovely. Amuse-bouche including the Indian wine was fun. Nice to have a "proper desert" rather than the usual array of mouthfuls. Wine list was a good read, albeit with French and Californian emphasis (no problem there, but it does shut off options for some great wines from elsewhere...). Sommelier was excellent. All staff were friendly and competent - although we did feel that there wasn't an actual individual who was looking after us. So all good, right? Well..... we came away saying "good, and we'd come back, but we won't prefer it in the immediate future to our usual starred place (to the west) when we feel like spending £250 on a meal". It was something about the atmosphere, I guess - we're not a fan of tables against a bench; and it all felt as if there was too much effort going into making it a "Special Occasion". Maybe because we're not used to eating in hotels - it was all bait too much like a business destination. Difficult to put our finger on it - maybe we just prefer more down to earth places rather than somewhere you bring someone to be impressed. But good, still!

Very suitable for someone on a 5.2 diet. As a visit to your restaurant could be counted as one of the two days, the maximum calorific value of my meal would be around 400 calories. The foie gras starter was miniscule with no discernable taste save for a sweet tasting ice cream. My main course of venison needed no culinary expertise, was two small pieces of meat which did not appear cooked, accompanied by two marble sized unidentifiable root vegetables and a streak of unidentifiable juice which was not large enough to taste. On a closer examination of your website photography it is obvious that they were taken from a 'macro' distance to mislead the viewer. May I suggest that your next photographs should be taken next to an accompanying two-pence piece which I believe is the same weight as a harvest mouse. I do not understand what you are offering when you offer such miniscule portions. We left home before breakfast and we were looking forward to a beautiful, country lunch. Are you providing a mid-day meal or is this just a tasting experience? If it is the latter you should be honest and make this clear so that you guests can make additional arrangements to satisfy their nutritional requirements. To pay £71 for two people for two courses did not buy us value for money. My partner had a similar meal with a shaving of cauliflower, presently the cheapest vegetable on the market and the salmon starter was the size of a matchbox.

We had another fantastic lunch at the Vineyard for our wedding anniversary. We chose the £29 three course lunch menu and loved it all. We asked the sommelier for wines to match and the choices were perfect. The whole 'experience' was just first class. We have been going to the Vineyard at least once a year for the last 5 years and I am so pleased that they have maintained the standards for their food, wine and service. Desperate to go back again soon.

Second visit since our wedding dinner, a great place to treat my wife (and me). The food is great and always a talking point we also get to to try some new wines. Great service.

Elegant restaurant which has class. We chose the set 3 course lunch at £29 per person. This was great value for money taking into account the wonderful food and service. An excellent experience all round. The fois gras starter was superb and the lamb fillet main course was delicious. We will definitely return.
