Nice surroundings but food standard was not as expected. Had last been here a few years ago for Sunday lunch and everything had been outstanding, lovely food beautiful presentation with excellent service. This time everything was well below expectations, the roast beef was all piled high on the plate, and looked a mess! full of fat and on top of potatoes.Very unappetising, the pollock was nothing special at all. It was very quiet with no ambience.Had far more appealing meals in local pubs.

Excellent service, quality of food, and fabulous wine selection. The Vineyard never disappoints. The location is extremely convenient for Newbury, London, and surrounds and easy to get to. The dining room is lovely and adds a special quality to the overall dining experience. Ask for a table on the lower level.

The sfternoon tea was excellent, good sandwiches, excellent scones and delightil fainty cakes.we were served by a very knowlegeble young waitress from Portugal. Service between courses with the service of the different teas was a little slow but the explanation accompanying each was interesting.Easter Sunday was very busy and they had set up a separate atea for afternoon tea which had a great atmosphere. My onlyvery slight disappointment that I has in advance explained that it was a special tea for my wifes birthday, it would have been appreciated had someone ackowledeg that fact by saying happy birthday to her.
    We shall certainly visit again.

Brilliant as usual. One of England's best kept secrets so I'm slightly ambivalent about encouraging others to go! I had a veal ravioli and Pollock with cauliflower. Both first rate. Wonderful, reasonably priced Californian Pinot Noir recommended by the sommelier (don't grapple with the telephone directory wine list - just ask those who know). Service is fantastic.

Used to be a regular haunt, but hadn't dined there for a decade. The gas flare over the pond had gone and there was more snacking and milling about in the lounges, but the food, service and ambience in the restaurant were still first-rate - as was (of course) the wine list. Now regretting my long absence...!

We love visiting the Vineyard, the setting is lovely and a nice ambiance. The staff are always lovely and remember us when we come back even though it might have been 6mths since our last visit. Always very helpful with recommendations for both the food and wine choices. Good selection and excellent value on the 3 course set menu. My guests thoroughly enjoy going and we will go again.

I booked afternoon tea as a birthday treat for a dear friend knowing that the occasion would be special and having decided that experiences as gifts last longer and mean more than 'stuff.'
The Vineyard did not disappoint and the welcome and service was impeccable from our arrival to when we departed more than three hours later.
We so enjoyed our afternoon tea fare from the sandwiches to the home made scones and jam to the divinely presented cakes. I must confess that we were unable to eat all of our cakes so were able to enjoy them the following day due to your staff boxing them for us.
Vineyard, your food is excellent, no doubt about it, but the jewel in your crown is your staff. Their manners and approach to service is on a par with any of the luxury establishments around the world that I have stayed at - they are friendly, informed, courteous, and attentive without being obtrusive.
My friend and I have decided to make birthday afternoon tea an annual event - for both our birthdays!

We had the most wonderful meal, the staff were attentive and clearly experts in their fields. I am allergic to alcohol so they really made sure that every care was taken to support my menu choices. A totally enjoyable lunch, thank you.
