We had an excellent lunch, staff were very attentive polite. Couldn’t fault the ambience, the food and wines. Will be returning very soon.

It was a few years since we were last at The Vineyard and had a most enjoyable return.
We particularly enjoy trying different wines and it was a new experience to taste a Chardonnay from Belgium, not a country readily associated with viniculture. The sommelier was knowledgeable, of course, but also had a very pleasant manner and took the time to discuss the wines on offer.
We had an excellent dinner, from our champagne aperitif (Taittinger is a good choice for the House champagne) to the exquisite chocolates at the end of the meal.
From arrival to departure the staff were as one would expect - excellent.
We’ll make a return visit, rather sooner than later.

We visited the Vineyard with my elderly mother on Saturday 28th July for lunch. From the moment we entered the hotel we were treated wonderfully well. My mother was treated with dignity, consideration and respect. She is not terribly mobile and we were given a table that was easily accessible for her, rather than the one originally intended. The service was really first class. Our meal was as ever superb as was the wine. The lamb and Pinot Noir that I had was a winning combination. As my husband was driving we had non-alcoholic aperitifs; the non-alcoholic cocktails are simply fantastic. They are a really grown up drinks and you don't miss the alcohol. It is always a pleasure and a delight to eat at the Vineyard. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Very impressed by the way our dietary restrictions were handled without any prior notice. The chef (via the extremely helpful waitress) came up with menu choices and adaptions to the menu dishes which made for an excellent meal for myself and my guests.
The presentation of the dishes was first class and made for a wonderful culinary experience - shouldn’t be long before you get your Michelin stars back ??
Always enjoy the ambience of the restaurant and pleased that the generous use of soft furnishings ensures the absence of the background clatter so often experienced in restaurants these days.
Would have appreciated a better choice of beers, something that would compliment the food better would be good - the ale offered did not go with food at all ??

A few years ago we had a couple of indifferent experiences at the Vineyard and have not been back until now. What a change! We had a very enjoyable lunch in luxurious surroundings. We particularly appreciated the Sommelier discussing what wines we would like with the tasting menu, rather than the decision being made for us. The sweet wine with the foie gras starter was especially tasty.

Our favourite restaurant by far! Love the Art Nouveau decor and the general atmosphere. The menu is varied - and if you ring in advance they go out of their way to provide suitable alternatives if there are things you can't/don't like to eat. Staff friendly but not intrusive. Food wonderful. Couldn't possibly choose favourites - there is nothing on the menu I wouldn't want to eat!

The food and wine and drinks etc was exceptional

The service was a little disappointing this time though. Quite noticably so and v unusual for The Vineyard

Booked for afternoon tea. When we arrived reception staff couldn’t have been less interested, just told us to go into restaurant which had a big sign up say closed for private function. We eventually managed to find someone to help us after being ignored by about 6 members of staff. Asked if we could eat outside as a lovey afternoon, told no, tea was only served in the lobby. Given menus then left waiting for more than 10mins before, eventually, someone came to take our order, another 15-20 mins passed before sandwiches arrived. When we were served hostess was very informative and pleasant. Scones and pastries again very slow at being served, lots of staff and ‘suits’ milling about but we were invisible, everyone was more concerned with what was happing later as opposed to the customers already in the building.
After waiting for more than 20 minutes after we had finished, we got up and stopped someone in the lobby and asked if we could have the bill. We could have walked out without paying and no one would have noticed. Eventually another man came over to us and we explained how long we had been waiting and please could we have the bill, as English was his second language he didn’t quite understand but eventually went and got the bill, then brought another bill with a slight discount, then came back again with the card machine. When we left one of the receptionist was at the door, obviously waiting for some guests, she didn’t even acknowledge our departure let alone a smile or a goodbye.
Such a shame about the awful service as the food was good. However don’t expect extra sandwiches or scones as you would receive in a London hotel, what you see is what you get.
If you do go, check that there isn’t a function on later that day, as this hotel certainly can’t do more than one thing at a time.
This was a birthday present for my friend and I was left both embarrassed and disappointed by the whole experience.
