Serving a fresh blend of British and European cuisine, The Townhouse Restaurant Ipswich sits in the heart of town. An intimate and relaxed restaurant, the locally sourced food is complemented by an extensive wine list available at the bar.

The Townhouse menu begins with flavoursome starters like pan-seared scallops with pancetta, black pudding and crème fraiche, and pigeon breast with a salad of mushrooms, bacon and blackberries. Follow up with imaginative mains, including the deconstructed fillet of beef wellington with potato scone, buttered spinach and Madeira jus, or the intriguing pan-fried hake with coriander and vanilla sauce. Amongst the other enticing dishes, discover red wine-braised lamb shank, or the pan-fried duck breast with sautéed potatoes, Savoy cabbage and bacon.

Desserts at The Townhouse in Ipswich are equally creative. Savour a gin and tonic granita with chilled cucumber, deconstructed lemon meringue pie with yoghurt sorbet, or the irresistible apple crumble cheesecake with pecan crumble and caramel ice cream.

A contemporary and laidback restaurant and bar, The Townhouse is in Ipswich town centre. Ipswich Rail Station is a 15-minute walk away.

The staff were welcoming and helpful. Enough to deal with the customers. We found the preparation of the meal was great, the portions were a good size and cooked really well. We had main courses chicken and fish respectively and could not fault them. A good idea was smaller desserts and cheese plate if you could not manage full portion. Again the mint tea was made from real leaves and the coffee was also good. The wine list was well priced and the quality of our bottle was excellent.

I have been to the Townhouse a few times and it rarely disappoints. The food was great, the waitresses attentive without being overly so, and my partner and I never felt rushed.

We were recommended to visit my my brother, as we were attending a concert at the regent. We were not disappointed, food was good service good.
The only down side was our table for 2 was located in an alcove, we will return.

Thank you, what proved to be a lovely evening started off perfectly in the Townhouse.

Lovely food. Shame the dessert fell off the plate when it was brought and the waiter didn't know what to do. Also we asked for liqueur coffees after our desserts but they were brought to us with the dessert so it would have been cold had I have not sent it back.
