Venison with rhubarb compote was a wonderful combination. Lamb croquettes were delicious: crunchy and meaty. Great to sit in the sunshine overlooking the water. Service from the young waitress really friendly and helpful. Perfect lunch experience!

Overlooking a beautiful lily pad-covered pond, with al fresco patio seating and a stunning conservatory dining room, The Tickell Arms is the embodiment of charming British village pub tradition.

Modern British and European flavours feature throughout the Tickell Arms menu, made with seasonal locally sourced produce. Classic gourmet recipes include smoked haddock and leek fishcakes, and vegetarian delicacies such as squash and Taleggio dumplings with marjoram butter. There are also succulent dry-aged steaks, and gluten and dairy-free options too.

The wine selection at The Tickell Arms in Cambridge focuses on the Languedoc-Roussillon of France, and there are a range of cask ales also on tap at the bar. For dessert, diners can sample inventive treats like baked blueberry cheesecake with blueberry purée and prosecco sorbet.

Cambridge doesn't have many good restaurants. The Tickell is a good option. I like it better than the chains city centre restaurants. It is characterful. The food was good with a range of choices and prices. The starter duck parcel is worth a journey. Wine was good.

Everything was excellent apart from value for money. My guest and I both had the fishcakes, the food was very good but the idea of serving it with potatoes when much of the fishcake was potato seemed a bit much. An accompanyment of say roasted squash or mixed root veg. would have been better.

The location was magnificent, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was very good. The food was excellent, and the set meal offer was good value.

Lunch for 6 on a hot Bank Holiday. Much of the menu was no longer available but the restaurant did not charge for some meals for which an order had been accepted but were not, in the vent, available. Very pleasant table, good service and food.

very pleasant dining experience, we have been there before so knew what to expect. Attractive surroundings, friendly helpful staff. Although we were there for lunch we dined off the al a carte menu and felt the portions were quite small especially after having the set lunch menu previously
