Overlooking a beautiful lily pad-covered pond, with al fresco patio seating and a stunning conservatory dining room, The Tickell Arms is the embodiment of charming British village pub tradition.

Modern British and European flavours feature throughout the Tickell Arms menu, made with seasonal locally sourced produce. Classic gourmet recipes include smoked haddock and leek fishcakes, and vegetarian delicacies such as squash and Taleggio dumplings with marjoram butter. There are also succulent dry-aged steaks, and gluten and dairy-free options too.

The wine selection at The Tickell Arms in Cambridge focuses on the Languedoc-Roussillon of France, and there are a range of cask ales also on tap at the bar. For dessert, diners can sample inventive treats like baked blueberry cheesecake with blueberry purée and prosecco sorbet.

With crackling fireplaces inside, and with quirky design touches like bowler hat lamps, The Tickell Arms boasts a lovely sense of whimsy. Whittlesford Parkway Rail Station is a 4-minute drive away.

Delicious lunch. Had the risotto with crab absolutely fabulous. House rosé extremely good. Friendly efficient service. Lovely garden to look out onto. Beer Garden for those coming with their dog. Fresh waterbowl immediately appeared for my wee four legged friend !

We hadn't visited The Tickell for a few years so thought it was time for another visit, this time celebrating three family birthdays. We were really disappointed and underwhelmed to say the least. Dreadful heavy, solid and tasteless fishcakes with no flavour of smoked haddock. Strange gnocchi that was more like fried potatoes. They brought one wrong order and this was swiftly corrected but overall we have decided not to waste our time with a visit in the future.

The best I've had in a long time! Bar service was excellent, drinks reasonably priced. Table service perfect and the food, we all agreed was excellent. We had lamb rump, duck and the veggie dumplings then sticky toffee pudding and banana crumble. All washed down with a bottle of excellent red!

The lack of champagne, not even a full glass available, was apologetically explained by the duty manager, who waived the cost of the 3/4 full glass.
The starters were not fully reheated (we both had the same). Again, many apologies and no charge to the account.
The pork belly came with soft leathery crackling in the meat
Good attentive service from friendly caring staff on fairly busy Sat evening

It was a huge disappointment and l was embarrassed as l took two friends with me. I have had Sunday Lunches at the Tickell Arms on numerous occasions and they have always been of a high standard. This time it looked tired, the beef was well done instead of rare and everything on the plate looked as if it was cooked the day before and warmed up, far below the usual standard.

Pre-lunch drink taken in the garden. Nice table with good view over the restaurant garden. Attentive and knowledgably enthusiastic staff. Super food, beautifully presented and served. Although we had not mentioned it was our friend's birthday one of the staff either overheard a quiet toast and/or saw the card - our friend's dessert came with a candle - simple but nice touch.

We loved the view of the pond from our seat. The rump steak was absolutely delicious. The waitresses were very friendly. It was our wedding anniversary so very glad it was so good. We only have a meal out once or twice a year, without the children.
