In an area steeped in history, the unique draw well in the The Three Cups is said to have quenched the thirst of the soldiers heading into battle at Stamford Bridge. A rural and quaint pub, serving traditional British pub cuisine, the nearby River Derwent can be seen from the pretty al fresco garden. Inside, a classic brick hearth and cute candles characterise the pastoral pub.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Three Cups menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Three Cups ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
Nestled in the famously beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, The Three Cups is just a 5-minute walk to Stamford Bridge.

Brilliant meal welcome and service. Obviously busy but still not rushed. Unexpectedly chose the Christmas menu as a treat and it was excellent. Not really near us so haven't been from a long time but would certainly recommend it.

Table was ready for us when we arrived, the restaurant very busy and we were given a table in the middle which probably wouldn't have been my choice. It was pie night and three of our party chose the chicken and thyme pie which was delicious with a choice different mashed potatoes and plenty of seasonal veg. The starters and the puds were also great. The meals were very good value and were served quickly and piping hot. The drinks were quite expensive and my husband was amazed to be charged £4.50 for a ginger beer. The the chap who served us said very little throughout the ordering and serving process which verged on being rude. He cleared the plates without asking if we had finished (we had) and at the end presented the bill without any comment. The excellent food made up for these negatives

Bench seats need cleaning. Fabric is badly stained - not pleasant to sit on. Floor in Gents is wet and dirty. There is a wet floor sign which appears to be there permanently- it has been for all our recent visits.

The restaurant was busy, so it took some time to be shown to our table. Unfortunately, two dishes on the menu were not available - Yorkshire Ham, and rump steak sandwich. Apart from this all was well. The staff friendly and efficient.

Food was delicious and service was excellent.

The bar person/manager was clearly trying to take on too many roles when we attended. Cannot serve drinks, show customers to their tables, deal with queries from customers via other staff & take payment at the end of the meal. Our main course was OK, the meat was delicious, unfortunately some of the vegetables were rather dried out - as though they had been kept warm under a heat lamp for too long. The mixed dessert platter was a real treat; I love the option of this as an option. The overall service was a bit hit & miss, but all the staff who served us were polite.

A disappointing visit overall for numerous reasons but I will start with the good things. The pub itself is very charming with a nice ambiance. The staff were friendly. The choice of beers and wines was good. The food and the rest of the experience not so good. This was a family visit as a farewell to my eldest who is off to university this weekend so wanted to give him a final steak dinner. The starters were OK but on the small side. My wife and I had the shared starter which whilst nice did not have enough of anything to split between two, particularly the small, thin pieces of bread. Between us we ordered 3 steaks, all medium rare, two rib eye and one sirloin. All were cooked rare and were tough to eat. When being served the steak the waitress had the misfortune to drop a full pot of peppercorn sauce onto my coat which led to the humourous quip from the next table "can I dip my chips in your coat". The waitress was obviously apologetic but we were more concerned about her arm covered in hot sauce and we told her to go and get it washed off before any damage was done. No further mention was made by any member of staff about the damage to my coat! When we received and paid the bill no offer was made to clean the coat nor was there a reduction to offset this cost to me. Very unprofessional. Considering the size of the bill we will not be returning to The Three Cups.
