Restaurant description

A rural, thatched, former-coaching inn, The Three Crowns in Stone has an excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside, and is close to the landmark River Trent. Serving well-loved British pub food beside the warming log-fire or in the pretty beer garden, rustic mirrors, art and oaken beams adorn the walls.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Three Crowns menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Three Crowns ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

At just a 15-minute walk to Stone, The Three Crowns enjoys great views in the Staffordshire countryside.

Very nice place unfortunately we had a screaming child on the next table aged about 2/3yrs I think that after 8pm children should be in bed! I asked the management what was there child policy and he said “as long as they were eating” However the meals were very good although my rump steak was tuff and had gristle though it. A good nignt spoilt by a child.

The 3 course set dinner including a bottle of wine for £25 was excellent value, great food and expertly presented.

My husband & I have eaten at the three crowns on a regular basis, but it seems they have changed the spectrum so the roast dinners. You used to have a bowl of veg & parsnips but they now plate the veg & it's not as much. I did comment to the man who served us as we weren't really full! Meagre amount so will try to find somewhere else to go in the future...shame really lovely food

The prawn cocktail starts were very poor. Badly presented and with little flavour. They were very watery. The steak was good and so were the deserts. The service was slow with a big wait between the starter and the main course however the staff were pleasant and friendly.
