Serving well-loved British pub food and real ales since the 19th century, The Tame Otter enjoys a premium location on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. Featuring an eye-catching ivy-enclosed building, extensive, lush gardens with seating, and classic patterned red-brick walls, The Tame Otter is a country haven.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Tame Otter menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Tame Otter ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
Next to the Hopwas Hays Wood in the Staffordshire countryside, The Tame Otter is just 4 minutes’ drive into Tamworth.

love this place especially at Christmas, although at times food can be hit and miss, this time Sunday roasts were yummy, we will be back again shortly

This is a smashing pub/restaurant. The location is fantastic, such a pretty place. The food and service were brilliant. Found all the staff to be absolutely lovely, polite, nothing too much trouble and it was a busy night. Would highly recommend The Tame Otter

Sunday lunch treat for the family. Table booked on line via phone while walking the dog! Nothing could be easier. Fantastic food and service as always.

Great food, good service,
Menu didn't have a lot to do with salmon which is great for summer but loved it anymore! Puddings were soooo awesome

Food was very good but service quite poor. Poor welcome, had to wait, obviously short staffed. Inexperienced staff. No one offered drinks after initial order. No one cleared plates for one hour after meal finished so didn't order a pudding. Staff need some guidance and customer care training. Good food spoilt by poor service. Shame

Apart from having to wait an hour for our food when advised at the time of seating the wait was around 30 minutes - the food when it arrived was good value and enjoyed by us all

The Beef Wellington was excellent and the waitress was very helpful with all our requests.
