Serving well-loved British pub food and real ales since the 19th century, The Tame Otter enjoys a premium location on the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside. Featuring an eye-catching ivy-enclosed building, extensive, lush gardens with seating, and classic patterned red-brick walls, The Tame Otter is a country haven.
Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Tame Otter menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Tame Otter ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.
Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.
Next to the Hopwas Hays Wood in the Staffordshire countryside, The Tame Otter is just 4 minutes’ drive into Tamworth.

Was ok, food nice, table position was aweful, my chair was hit every time the waitress went past, which was frequently. Table 18. Not good,

Service was fine and treated very respectfully, interior a bit tired and needs a revamp. Food quality was nothing special and over priced.

Had a lovely meal at the Tame Otter, a farewell meal for our colleague. We all had fantastic food, shame it ended so soon.

We chose The Tame Otter for Sunday lunch as it was our 15th wedding anniversay and we were in Tamworth supporting our friends who were taking part in the Lichfield Cathedral to Tamworth Castle 10 mile run. We'd been once before for xmas lunch so it seemed the perfect place. The pub itself is very welcoming with a friendly atmosphere and extremely well done out.
The food was absolutely top notch. A perfect Sunday afternoon and our friends were very impressed. We will definately return and recommend to others too. Thanks Tame Otter xx

It is a Vintage inn so should serve Doombar beer but they didn't have any.
We reserved a table for 2 for lunch at 1pm. We arrived at 12.45 and were shown 2 tables both in dark corners. We pointed to a table for 4 in a more acceptable area but young waitress said it was reserved. As it turned out the people who came did not like it and wanted to sit next to a window
Another lady called Ros opened a new area for them and invited us to the table for 4.
Food good We both had beer battered cod and chops
